KiwiRail, Maritime New Zealand, and the Transport Accident Investigation Commission are all investigating Interislander's Aratere, which ran aground on Friday after experiencing steering issues.
The Government pulled the plug on new mega-ferries and upgraded portside infrastructure, soon after taking power.
