A $131 million education boost aiming to lift maths results and teachers' confidence teaching it has been revealed.

Funding's going to new workbooks and digital tools, as well as a Year Two literacy check and Year Five maths check.

France's parliament has approved a law to ban social media for under-15s from January 2027 - making it the first European nation to block teens under these restrictions.

The law will mean everyone in France must verify their age to access social media,  with French President Emmanuel Macron welcoming this move.

UK correspondent Gavin Grey says this comes after families in France have launched legal action towards TikTok over harmful content.

Recent data has unveiled a silver lining in the latest June-quarter inflation figures.

Rents rose at their slowest rate, annually, in 25 years, according to Stats NZ.

The country’s stock of rents rose by 0.5 percent between the June 2025 and 2026 quarters, continuing the trend of softening increases that began towards the end of 2024.
