The Story of Alice

People are naturally curious. For example, everyone’s always asking why the radio station is called Alice? Or who’s Alice and why haven’t we ever seen her? Let me see if I can explain.
It was the Fall of 1997 when she was drawn to the natural state for the beauty of the changing leaves and the crisp Fall air. Alice, a young lady full of adventure and a love for music and fun, had traveled here looking for a fresh start. But where would she stay and for how long?
In her search for a place to rest, she stumbled upon a secluded hotel. It was set off from the main road in a wooded area. There was a dark pond nearby and only a few cars parked in the hotel lot. A rather strange looking bellman greeted her and checked her into their finest room. Room 107.Once inside, Alice tried to relax after unpacking by ordering some food, wine and a movie. She was excited to check out the town and meet some new people (besides the creepy bellman) the next day. As she snuggled up in bed watching her show, Alice started to hear what she thought was music. She got up to look around the room for a clock or radio, but there wasn’t one. Hmm? She tried to ignore it and go back to her movie, but this sound kept playing over and over from wherever and it was mesmerizing. Alice was in an almost trance like state and she found herself wanting more. She searched under the bed, in the closet and behind the shower curtain. What was the source of this sound?
When she called down to the front desk for help, there was no answer. She looked out the door to the hallway to ask another guest if they heard it too, but no one was nearby. She even tried to give up and sleep, but to no avail as she constantly tossed and turned unable to escape the music. In fact, the beat seemed stronger. Almost too intense as if someone or something was pounding on her chest. It was then that she suddenly felt that maybe she wasn’t alone in her room after all. Every corner was dark, cold and full of shadows. She sensed the presence all around floating above her. Was someone there? Or was it just the music and the pull it had on Alice?
As the days and nights went on, she didn’t leave her room to take those adventures she’d planned. She couldn’t eat. She couldn’t sleep. All she wanted was the music.
And all the music wanted was Alice. No one knows exactly what happened in the hotel room after that. All we do know is that it was during that time, a company purchased the building and turned it into a radio station and Alice 107.7 was born. Or should we say reborn? Her Music now fills the airwaves possessing thousands and thousands of victims every second of every day and now you are one of them.
