A couple has been indicted in a 2023 murder in Kahuku. The two are accused of killing a 57-year-old man whose body was found in bushes along Marconi Road. 

An investigation is underway after heavily decomposed human remains were discovered on a property located in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision. Hawaii Island police said shortly before 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, detectives responded to the 92-8700 block of Lotus Blossom Lane in Ocean View after receiving a report of a decomposed body on the property.

The woman whose boyfriend was allegedly murdered by Mike Miske finished her testimony in federal court Monday and was finally free to tell her story in public. In an emotional interview with Hawaii News Now, Ashley Wong said the hope of finding justice for Johnathan Fraser was what kept her going for nearly eight years.

A somber day of remembrance was held at Pearl Harbor Tuesday morning, honoring the late Lou Conter, the last surviving crew member who was on board the USS Arizona during the attacks on Dec. 7, 1941. Conter was laid to rest in Grass Valley, Calif. by his family and friends.

The suspect in an hours-long standoff with police last week in Waianae made his initial appearance in court Monday on multiple attempted murder charges. Howard Abraham, 50, has been charged with three counts of first-degree attempted murder and one count of causing injury to a law enforcement animal after stabbing a police K-9 dog.

An attempted murder investigation is underway following a shooting in the Moiliili area late Tuesday night. HPD officers rushed to the scene just after 10 p.m. near the corner of Kaaha Street and Kapiolani Boulevard just after 10 p.m. Police said prior to the shooting, the victim and the suspect got into a verbal argument.

A Hawaii Island couple is in custody for allegedly kidnapping a man and stealing his car at a bar in Hilo, police said. Authorities have identified the suspects as 32-year-old Nathan Pedro and 30-year-old Jackie Napuaokalani Carter. They have been charged with a slew of offenses, including kidnapping.

The state transportation department is trying to hunt down a stolen government truck it believes is being used to commit crime. The base yard in Hau’ula is one of 16 the DOT has across the entire state. An incident on Friday is leading to some big security changes to all of them. The Hau’ula base yard holds around half a dozen government vehicles with official markings.

Honolulu police have arrested a 50-year-old suspect accused of stabbing a man in the chest in Waikiki, officials said. The incident happened around 2:15 a.m. on Tusitala Street.

An Ewa Beach community is in mourning after two bicyclists were struck and killed along Fort Weaver Road on Sunday. Kahealani Lakalo, of Ewa Beach, said she’s been neighbors with 62-year-old Naomi Meyers and 75-year-old James Rowland for nearly a decade. Lakalo said the couple were just going about their daily routine Sunday morning when they were hit by a car.

City Council members said two housing bills at the state Legislature would weaken the city’s ability to reign in so-called monster homes. They advanced a resolution voicing strong concerns over House Bill 1630 and Senate Bill 3202. The measures would allow more units on residential lots to help increase housing inventory.

City leaders are a step closer to receiving pay raises after the Salary Commission unanimously voted Tuesday afternoon to recommend them. The proposal would give dozens of officials about a 3.6% salary increase. Work is underway on the $1.2 million roofing project at Iolani Palace. About 9,000 square feet of the roof will be replaced or repaired. The palace was opened in 1879 — and it’s been showing its age.

The Department of Homeland Security is installing 80 wildfire sensors and 16 wind sensors around the islands so firefighters can quickly locate and target a blaze when it sparks.

Haley didn’t endorse the former president in a speech in Charleston, South Carolina. Instead, she challenged him to win the support of the moderate Republicans and independent voters who supported her.

A Puna man was arrested on multiple gun charges, including possessing loaded firearms on public property, Hawaii Island prosecutors said on Monday. Officials said Nainoa Kaluhiwa, 32, has been charged with possessing a loaded firearm on a public highway and additional felony weapons charges, including keeping ammunition and failing to register his firearms.

The owners of a plumeria farm on Oahu’s North Shore are determined to pick up the pieces after thieves took off with nearly $200,000 worth of farm equipment. Little Plumeria Farms in Haleiwa has been operating for more than five decades. The family said this is the biggest theft to hit their farm since it opened.

Honolulu police have arrested a man accused of pushing someone into the path of a moving bus. He faces an attempted murder charge.
