This horn forward and percussion rich six piece band features some of Vancouver’s heaviest players playing the music of composer and baritone saxophone player Tim Sars. Tim’s music combines latin, funk, balkan brass, and chamber jazz, mixed with poetic lyrics.
Sars’ friends Kevin Tang on trombone and Jocelyn Waugh on trumpet fill out the rest of the horn section. These three friends have been playing music together for many years, touring though BC with their Afrobeat band “Camaro 67”, and even opening the Vancouver Jazz Festival with the “Tim Sars Sextet” in 2017.
Ben Brown on drums, Robin Layne on percussion/marimba, and Conrad Good on double bass fill out the rhythm section. These three are all active in Vancouver’s creative music scene, able to create exciting and beautiful grooves will make you move.
