Guest DJ

Melissa from Heartland Hospice and Kim from DeKalb Township were our Guest DJs today. We talked all about the Wise & Well Senior Summit coming up on August 6th. This is a day long event with different panel discussions and lots of education. They are continuing the fun through out the month with additional sessions and learning opportunities. This is free to attend and pre-registration is encouraged, but not required.

Cami from Voluntary Action Center was our Guest DJ. We highlighted the retirement party coming up on 7/29 for their Executive Director. We also talked about the need for volunteers and teased the Golf Outing in September.

Sara with the Corn Fest Board was our Guest DJ! We talked all about volunteering at Corn Fest AND they extended the self sign up deadline to 8/14!! 

Hayes from the Habitat for Humanity board was our Guest DJ. We talked all about their current build which is a Duplex! So two families will be getting a new home, and its their biggest project to date. We also talked about the fundraiser with Willrett Flowers going on now where if you get a bouquet, 25% of the proceeds will go to Habitat as well. 

Josh from Stage Coach Players was our Guest DJ. We talked all about "The Man Who Came To Dinner" which is opening Thursday! This is going to be a fun comedy where you can laugh and enjoy a night out! Tickets are on sale now.

Jessica from CASA DeKalb County was our Guest DJ. Tony Strikes joined us as we discussed 50 Men Who Cook coming up on August 8th. We talked about what it is and Tony discussed what it's like to be a chef, plus so much more! 

Eric from the Kishwaukee Family YMCA was our Guest DJ. We talked about a lot of great things coming up at the YMCA including:  Summer 2 starts for swim lessons next week The fall brochure comes out on July 27th There is a new partnership with Dance Dimensions that will be offering a ton of new dance, cheer & tumble classes for kids and adults kicking off in the Fall. Membership special for the rest of the month is 50% off the joiner fee The school year is around the corner and new this year for their Before and After care program is that they will now be in Mitchell school as well as Tyler school.  Tyler school will also serve kids going to Tyler, Lincoln & Founders Important to get registered before August 5th with the ymca so we can make sure you are on the bus list for day one if you go to Lincoln, Founders, Brooks, Little John or Jefferson

Andy from the Kishwaukee United Way was our Guest DJ. We talked all about their upcoming fall campaigns. They have some new programs coming out and they are also seeking volunteers. 

Jessi from the Glidden Homestead was our Guest DJ! We talked about the Teen Influencer event and the Tinsmithing event both coming up this month. We also highlighted the Barn Tour and SNAG! 

Greg from the Rotaract Club of Sycamore was our Guest DJ. We looked ahead at the upcoming year, talked about what they'd like to do, talked about joining, and touched on some current programs as well. 

Ashley from DeKalb County Government was our Guest DJ. We talked all about this amazing America 250 celebration coming up on July 8th. There will be a ton to do and this free family event is going to commemorate America's 250th Birthday in a big way. They have provided parking with shuttles, there will be entertainment for the kids, and some very cool things honoring Veterans! Plus, they will read the Declaration Of Independence right from the courthouse steps! 

Jim from Love Inc was our Guest DJ. We highlighted what they do for the community and specifically talked about the First Annual Roger Scott Memorial Golf Outing. This is a new event that is going to be a huge fundraiser for them! You can golf, or you can come for lunch, either way, they have great silent auction prizes and a 50/50 raffle! 

Nate and Rick from the Voluntary Action Center were our Guest DJs. Nate is retiring at the end of this month so it was a great time to introduce Rick to the community as the new Executive Director of VAC! We talked about some other management changes and things behind the scenes and teased the Golf Outing in September! VAC is still the same amazing organization, you'll just see some different faces! 

Sara from the Corn Fest Board was our Guest DJ. Corn Fest will be here before you know it and if you didn't already know, it's a totally volunteer run festival! They need at least 300 volunteers to pull it off. Could that be you? find out how you can get involved and be a volunteer.

Xena from CASA DeKalb County was our Guest DJ! We talked about what it takes to be a volunteer with CASA, how much time it takes, and the upcoming training for Fall! Plus, we highlighted their signature fundraiser, 50 Men Who Cook! They need chefs so if you are a man who can cook something specific, you should sign up. Plus, tickets are also on sale now! 

Mikayla from the DeKalb Park District was our Guest DJ! We talked all about Music At The Mansion, 4th of July, Water Mania day, Unplug Illinois, and so much more! 

Samantha and Steve from the DeKalb Public Library were our Guest DJs. We highlighted some things that will wrap up June and then dove into July. They have a ton going on for all ages and July is one of their busiest months yet. 

Sara from Barb City Manor was our Guest DJ. We recapped the South First Street Neighborhood Picnic they just had on Sunday! It was a huge success and will hopefully be back next year. We also highlighted their big Summer Sale coming up! July 9th and 10th you can come to Barb City Manor and shop a TON of great items from clothes, to collectibles, to furniture. All the proceeds will benefit the residents and their families directly

John from DeKalb County United was our Guest DJ! Their season is in full swing with multiple men's and women's games every week! Go check out a soccer game locally and support this awesome club. 

Heaven from the DeKalb County Mental Health Board and Nancy and Jocelyn from Youth Outlook were our Guest DJs! We talked all about what Youth Outlook offers like the drop in center, education for families and professionals, and so much more. They also have a new Health and Wellness program as well. 

Jill from the Sycamore Library was our Guest DJ. We highlighted some fun events at the library but really focused on Summer Reading. Summer reading has kicked off and is open to ALL ages! 

Karson from Rooted For Good was our Guest DJ! We talked about their plant sale through the end of the month. Today they are having a pollinator garden event that is a drop in as well! 

Andy from the Kishwaukee United Way was our Guest DJ. We talked about what they do, who they serve, and more! We highlighted the Day of Caring coming up on Thursday as well. 

Carolyn with the Institute of Civility was our Guest DJ! This is a great time to learn more about them as they are just starting to ramp up. They are newer to the area but have some great programs including trips to DC for a Legislative Seminar, Congressional Student Forums, and Civility Training. 

Anna from the DeKalb Chamber was our Guest DJ. We talked about the Farmers Market which opened this week. We also highlighted the DeKalb Chamber Leadership Academy Graduation coming up on June 10th, their next BEST Series Training, and Family Fun Fest! 

Jeanine from the Egyptian Theatre was our Guest DJ. We highlighted some amazing events coming up including Pride Fest, Rocky Horror Picture Show, a Mel Brooks double feature, Bohemian Queen, Napoleon Dynamite Live, and so much more! 

Lizzy from The Rotaract Club of Sycamore was our Guest DJ! We talked all about what the club is, what we focus on, and why it's a good time to join. We highlighted the new members that were inducted last night, they wrapped up Adopt A Classroom, and have already started working on Pumpkin Fest! 

Beth and Harvey from Safe Passage were our Guest DJs. We talked all about their services, highlighted some Pride events, and wrapped up Give DeKalb County and the Stage Coach Players donations as well! 

Cami from the Voluntary Action Center was our Guest DJ. We talked all about the impact of Give DeKalb County, how you can volunteer with them, and the preliminary info on their Golf Outing September 28th! 

Lori from the Sweet Life Garden Group and Nicole from the U of I Extension were our Guest DJs. We talked all about "Nibbles" which is a gardening club for kids that runs every Monday in June. Kids will learn how to grow food, plants, and more. They will get to try some of the food they grew, learn about nutrition, and more! This is a free fun way to get kids engaged in learning a new skill and is open to all kids. 

Makayla from the DeKalb Park District and Paul from Sycamore Golf were our Guest DJs! We talked all about a special event called the Crosstown Showdown on June 28th that will bring DeKalb and Sycamore together for a day on the course. There will be some friendly competition and some fun events throughout this day.  

Jessica from CASA DeKalb County was our Guest DJ. We talked all about what they do and who they serve. We highlighted the Color Run coming up on June 6th and started chatting about 50 Men Who Cook as well! 

Kelsey from the Kishwaukee Family YMCA was our Guest DJ. We talked all about Summer Camps, Summer Programs, and their awesome specials they have to join.

Jess from NIU Steam and Josh from the College of Performing and Visual Arts were our Guest DJs. We talked all about their incredible summer camps they have coming up. There is literally a camp for everyone! No matter what your interest is, you'll find it! 

Sara from the Corn Fest Board was our Guest DJ. We talked all about the volunteer opportunities available for Corn Fest Weekend. There are many positions and shifts available and it's a complete blast! Learn why you should get involved. 

Melissa from Heartland Hospice was our Guest DJ. We talked all about breaking the stigma of hospice, the benefits of hospice, and how getting in early can be beneficial. 

Samantha and Theresa from the DeKalb Public Library were our Guest DJs. We highlighted some awesome events in May and then dived into June. Summer Reading kicks off June 1st and is open to all ages! Plus they have amazing events coming up like an Art Gala, Live Music, and more! There is truly something for everyone at the library! 

Elijah, Addy, Luke, and Allie from Lightbeam Players were our Guest DJs. This is a theater group for kids, by kids, that performs unique shows for the community. Sleepaway is their latest production debuting at the end of May. This show was written by the kids in the show and is sure to be a fun one. 

Andy from the Kishwaukee United Way was our Guest DJ. We recapped Give DeKalb County and highlighted the Day Of Caring. That is coming up on June 11th a very exciting day where people will be volunteering at different places throughout DeKalb County and some exciting announcements will be made! 

Meg and Heidi from Stage Coach Players were our Guest DJs. We talked all about a collaboration they are doing with Safe Passage for this upcoming show to collect donations for them and how they are connected to the community in many ways. Their production of "Street Car Named Desire" opens on Thursday and it will be a "do not miss" show! 

Deanna from the DeKalb County Mental Health Board and Ashley DeKalb County were our Guest DJs. We highlighted Mental Health Awareness Month, the Mental Health Art Show coming up on My 14th, and the Mental Health Proclamation on May 20th, plus more! 

Ben Bingle was our Guest DJ. We talked all about Give DeKalb County. May 7th is a day where you can give online to a nonprofit (or a few) of your choice and your donations will be boosted by the Bonus Pool! This is an epic day of generosity, kindness, and fundraising, and these dollars will help our community in many ways.

Sarah from the Rotaract Club of Sycamore was our Guest DJ. We highlighted what the club does and recapped the Pints for Pups event! We also went over some upcoming programs and why its a great time to join. 

Lynette from Adventure Works was our Guest DJ. We highlighted their services, what they do, and how you can help them for Give DeKalb County. They are doing a special Coffee/Hot Chocolate Drive thru from 6-10am on 5/7 to collect donations for Give DeKalb County! You can also donate online all day long!

Jessi from Glidden Homestead was our Guest DJ! We talked all about Give Dekalb County. We dove into what they do at the homestead and why it's important, what it means when you donate, and what is covered by those donations for the homestead! They are strictly donation funded so, this is a huge day for them. 

Crystal and Brooke from Opportunity House were our Guest DJs. We talked all about the "Art In Bloom" art show that is coming up. This is a going to be a great night out where you can walk through a beautiful backdrop and look at art! We also highlighted Give DeKalb County as well. 

Christine and Rebecca were our Guest DJs. We recapped Sexual Assault Awareness Months and two of their biggest events. We also highlighted Give DeKalb County and how your donations can impact survivors right here in DeKalb County. 

Anna from the Dekalb Chamber was our Guest DJ. We highlighted the DeKalb Chamber Foundation and what they do. This is also their first year participating in Give DeKalb County. 

Dean Dave Grewell and students Alex and Michael from the NIU College of Engineering and Engineering Technology were our Guest DJs. We highlighted a special event tomorrow at the NIU Convocation Center: The Senior Design Showcase! This event is the culmination of a years work for their seniors and a way to show off the amazing work they are doing. This is open to anyone and free and all are encouraged to attend. Go see what these brilliant students have created! 

Nicole, Larry, Alyssa, and Derrick from DYFL were our Guest DJs. We talked all about how the league is transitioning to tackle football this year. They have a Parent Night Out event on May 1st to invite kids to come try out the league and see if they'd like to join. They also have a camp in June as well. Also, listen for the end of the discussion, they threw in a special bonus for anyone who signs up.
