Carolyn with the Institute of Civility was our Guest DJ! This is a great time to learn more about them as they are just starting to ramp up. They are newer to the area but have some great programs including trips to DC for a Legislative Seminar, Congressional Student Forums, and Civility Training.
Anna from the DeKalb Chamber was our Guest DJ. We talked about the Farmers Market which opened this week. We also highlighted the DeKalb Chamber Leadership Academy Graduation coming up on June 10th, their next BEST Series Training, and Family Fun Fest!

Lori from the Sweet Life Garden Group and Nicole from the U of I Extension were our Guest DJs. We talked all about "Nibbles" which is a gardening club for kids that runs every Monday in June. Kids will learn how to grow food, plants, and more. They will get to try some of the food they grew, learn about nutrition, and more! This is a free fun way to get kids engaged in learning a new skill and is open to all kids.
Makayla from the DeKalb Park District and Paul from Sycamore Golf were our Guest DJs! We talked all about a special event called the Crosstown Showdown on June 28th that will bring DeKalb and Sycamore together for a day on the course. There will be some friendly competition and some fun events throughout this day.

Elijah, Addy, Luke, and Allie from Lightbeam Players were our Guest DJs. This is a theater group for kids, by kids, that performs unique shows for the community. Sleepaway is their latest production debuting at the end of May. This show was written by the kids in the show and is sure to be a fun one.

We talked all about a collaboration they are doing with Safe Passage for this upcoming show to collect donations for them and how they are connected to the community in many ways. Their production of "Street Car Named Desire" opens on Thursday and it will be a "do not miss" show!

May 7th is a day where you can give online to a nonprofit (or a few) of your choice and your donations will be boosted by the Bonus Pool! This is an epic day of generosity, kindness, and fundraising, and these dollars will help our community in many ways.

They are strictly donation funded so, this is a huge day for them.

We highlighted a special event tomorrow at the NIU Convocation Center: The Senior Design Showcase! This event is the culmination of a years work for their seniors and a way to show off the amazing work they are doing. This is open to anyone and free and all are encouraged to attend. They have a Parent Night Out event on May 1st to invite kids to come try out the league and see if they'd like to join. They also have a camp in June as well. There are a lot of exciting events planned for opening week as well, including hanging basket design class, customizing your own planter, veggie 101 led by RFG Kirkland's program participants, and ending with the spring open house on 5/2.
