God determines the length of your life.

God was preparing David to be a king, the greatest of Israel’s kings.

The most important thing about this king is, he would be in the Messianic line.

Acts 13:22

Overall, David did everything God wanted him to do, not flawlessly but faithfully.

“I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy, for You have considered my trouble and You have known my soul in adversities.” Psalm 31:7

Sometimes the ones you help the most hurt you the worst.

Sometimes fellow believers will criticize you when God begins to bless you.

People are going to hurt you in life, and you will hurt people as well.

“God allows us to feel the frailty of human love so we’ll appreciate the strength of His.” —C.S. Lewis

Forgiveness doesn’t mean condoning bad behavior or dismissing it.

To forgive means, “surrendering the right to get even.”

When you face tragedy, when you face hardship, the church is there for you.

When people are hurting, they just need someone to be with them.

We need to face our fears.

Deal with your giants, because either you conquer them, or they will conquer you.

Faith overcomes fear.

When faith walks in, worry walks out; but when worry steps in, faith walks out.

The Christian life is not a cakewalk; it’s a conflict—it’s not a playground; it’s a battleground.

There will always be something to potentially worry about.

When you are afraid in the dark, turn on the light.
Psalm 27:1

Anxious notions come sweeping into our mind, uninvited and unwelcome.
But the presence of our heavenly Father can dispel all fear, worry, and anxiety.

Face your fears in God’s strength, not your own.
Psalm 27:1

God is bigger than your enemies.
Psalm 27:2–3

God promises to keep us safe in His protection.
Psalm 27:5

God will never allow anything to touch us that He does not allow, and He certainly will never let anything happen that would separate us from His love for us.

God either did it or allowed it for His glory and our ultimate good.
Romans 8:38 

David knew that the main thing was to keep the main thing the main thing!
Psalm 27:4–5

A danger in life is to permit the urgent things to crowd out the important things.

If we don’t focus on that one thing, we will end up doing everything, and accomplish nothing.

You have a Father in Heaven who loves you and always has time for you.

God promises to be a Father to the fatherless.

Your heavenly Father will never abandon you.

The word convert means, “to revive, restore, and transform.”

Success or failure in the Christian life depends on how much of God’s Word you get into your life on a regular basis, and how obedient you are to it.

A growing believer will delight in and love the Word of God. 

Hungry Christians are healthy Christians. 

The Word of God is perfect.

“His mercies are new every morning.” —Lamentations 3:23

How do you know the Bible is the Word of God?

All the authors of the Bible write about one theme: God’s redemption of mankind.

The Bible is true because it gives the experience it claims it will give you.

The Bible is true because it is confirmed by science.

It was the Bible that first said that the number of stars were innumerable. 

The objective of the Bible is not to tell us how the heavens go, but how to go to Heaven and how to know God.

The Bible is true because it is the one book that dares to predict the future.

The Word of God transforms us. 

It’s not enough to read and study God’s Word; we must do it!

The Bible is God’s Word to us, and it should be treasured.

The Word of God gives us incredible wisdom. 

The word simple comes from a root word that speaks of an open door.

What if you don’t agree with what the Bible says?

Answer: Change your opinion because you are wrong, and the Bible is right.

The Word of God is right.

Keeping the Word of God makes you happy. 

“Happy are those that hear the Word of God and keep it.” —Luke 11:28

You can have a happy life without sin. 

The Bible tells us how to get to Heaven.

Choices matter, because we make our choices, and our choices make us!

We are not the only ones who make choices; God makes choices, too!

There are over 59 references to David in the New Testament, yet he was far from perfect.

He wasn’t only a shepherd, warrior, and king, but also, an adulterer, murderer, and abysmal failure.

In battle, David was fearless. In wisdom, in ruling, he was without peer.

“My heart is fixed, my heart is fixed, O Lord.”
Psalm 57:7

The book of Psalms gives real insight into David’s heart; it shows his courage, his weakness, his fears, and prayers.

Psalms is a collection of 150 Hebrew poems, songs, and prayers of Israel’s history.

The first Psalm gives a contrast, as we see the difference between right and wrong choices.

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” ¾Robert Frost

We make our choices, and then our choices make us.

The final test of what our foundation is will come in times of testing and hardship in life.

We, as Christians, can vote them out and vote others in.
