Homer’s epic The Odyssey—retold in this summer’s blockbuster—is built around one longing: to get home. The Greeks even had a word for it: nostos, or “homecoming.” It’s where we get the word “nostalgia”—literally, the ache of home.

Here’s the difference: we don’t have to fight our way home. We just have to find our way back. Jesus said it plainly, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
