Greg and Phil talk with Eric Arnold and Dr. George McKenna about the growing concern surrounding Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE), a form of extremism associated with destructive behavior, violence, and online communities that encourage harm. They discuss how young people can become exposed to dangerous online influences, the warning signs parents and professionals should recognize, and why direct engagement with youth is essential to prevention. They also preview "Stopping Nihilistic Violence: Extremism Before Violence Occurs," a professional learning event happening Wednesday, October 28, from 12:30–4:30 p.m. at the Peoria County Health and Human Services Building. The event will explore early warning signs, concerning behaviors, online pathways to violence, emerging extremist networks, and practical strategies for intervention. They also emphasize the importance of parents staying involved in their children's lives, maintaining open communication, and working alongside educators, law enforcement, and mental health professionals to recognize risks and help prevent violence before it occurs.
