GAGR Podcast Ep 175: Rugby World Cup 2015 Podcast - Michael Lynagh

View descriptionShare
Green and Gold Rugby returns with the next in our Rugby World Cup 2015 Podcasts with Wallaby World Champions as our special guests. The Wallabies' all time leading point scorer, Michael Lynagh, is our very special guest on the show this week, joining us over the dodgy skype to London mobile waves that become evident at times in the interview. Still it is an extremely worthwhile lesson from one of the iconic figures in Australia's RWC history.

Noddy takes us through some of the learnings from that inaugural RWC way back in 1987 before we focus more on the success of 1991. What better man to talk to about that amazing Quarter Final win against Ireland than the man who orchestrated its grand culmination?

To wrap up his appearance on this Rugby World Cup 2015 Podcast, Lynagh glances forward to this year's tournament and gives his thoughts on two of the Wallabies' biggest problem areas - the flyhalf position and goal kicking. Whilst its not entirely RWC-related I couldn't let the opportunity go by without asking Michael for his thoughts on the recent issues around Queensland Rugby and the appointment of his old coach, John Connolly.

On Lynagh's departure we have our very own Steve Lenthall and Tim Wrathall who I guess you could call G&GR's version of Scott Bowen and Pat Howard as they try to fill the shoes of the legend that is our Noddy. Unfortunately much like Pat and Scott, they were unable to replace Lynagh sufficiently well, at least the recording of our chat failed. But never fear as I believe I do a sterling job at recreating the discussion, and in half the time!

Enjoy the listen.
