Paul Gray interviews Tom Bassford, founder and Executive Director of Significant Matters, Inc. He pastored for 30-plus years before starting Significant Matters in 2005.  Their mission is to help churches reframe their missions work around sustainable solutions and create room for the kind of business-minded people who can help that happen. His experience has been in both US and international fields and he has helped churches, businesses, city governments and various other organizations move their charitable work and missional efforts toward more sustainable solutions.

In 2014, under his leadership, Significant Matters lunched SATtalks, a TED talk type of gathering and video website to explore and demonstrate ways to move beyond “helping that hurts” in church missions.  They also launched the Missions 3.0 Network and Peer Learning Communities for churches wanting to move their mission work beyond “helping that hurts.”
