Welcome Back to our new Gospel Rant series called Vagabond Diaries. We are finding fun and creative ways to proclaim the love of God for the unlovable, the unloved, and the unlovely. To accomplish that, we will use every trick in the book: story, drama, satire, comedy, mystery, and even a fun visit to a counselor’s couch to help unpack some biblical truth and application.
Today is a real treat, I hope. I want to read a chapter from the second book in my award-winning Christian fantasy series for 10-16-year-olds, The Storyteller’s Tale. It has been favorably compared with Chronicles of Narnia. It is a fun and adventurous story but it also contains wonderful life-changing spiritual truth, or spiritual formation for children that age—and for any adult who might read it.
Beneath the story line, the tale is about the journey of a troubled girl who had to endure parental abuse and has not moved past it. How do you deal with early wounds? How do you forgive? Our protagonist Berenice will need help. So many teenaged girls—and boys—are hiding deep dark secrets and wounds and have no quest to find relief.
