随着百物价格上涨，印尼雅加达的街边小食店据说也出现了变化。有报道称，如今食品分量少了，辣椒也没以前辣。

经济学家将这种现象称之为“缩水式通胀”。《雅加达邮报》早在2024年就曾报道，有半数受访者表示能感觉到商品缩水，其中最明显的是零食。

如今，由于中东局势推高国际能源价格，加上外资撤离，印尼的通胀问题更为严重。2026年第一季度，印尼经济增长达到5.61%，创下自2022年第三季度以来的最高增速，但人民却切身感受不到增长带来的好处。

与此同时，印尼货币持续贬值。今年以来，印尼盾对美元汇率下跌了8%，成为亚洲表现最差的货币。货币贬值与能源价格上涨，让当地中产阶层首当其冲。
