Two weeks after its launch, Concord, Sony’s supposed answer to Blizzard’s Overwatch franchise, was taken offline due to the extremely low player count and poor sales. The signs were there early on, but the publisher’s failure to recognise and do something about it led to the game’s extremely short lifespan. We unpack what went wrong for this 5v5 live service hero shooter and reflect on what Sony and developer Firewalk Studios could have done to fix, or even mitigate this.

Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong has been receiving attention from the wider world after its release recently, and while it’s still too early for us to do our full review of the game, BFM’s Najman Maliki has spent some time playing it to give us his impressions of Black Myth: Wukong. He joins us to share his ongoing thoughts, as well as some words of caution for casual gamers looking to give this game a try. Hint: this game is challenging!

Gamescom dominated the month with a plethora of announcements, including Borderlands 4, Dying Light: The Beast, Sid Meier's Civilization VII, and many other titles. We highlight some of them, as well as cover other news that popped up throughout the month, including Balatro selling 2 million copies, and Sea of Thieves, a Microsoft game, hitting 1 million sales on PS5. August also saw the release of Black Myth: Wukong, the highly anticipated action game from Game Science. We speak about that, as well as other games, including Cat Quest 3, Thank Goodness You’re Here, Concord, Visions of Mana and many more!
