In this week’s edition of Gateway to Africa we focus on the Africa Week Carnival and Festival organized by the African Diaspora Forum to celebrate Africa Month. The event starts on Saturday, 20th May and culminates in a carnival through the streets of Johannesburg on the 27 and it is supported by the provincial government of Gauteng and other players. The event also seeks to promote social cohesion and human rights over xenophobia and all forms of discrimination.

Jacque D'unieville is the Chief Executive Officer of Omnicane Ltd, which developed Mushishito-Rukarara Hydropower plant in Rwanda.

The plant was officially inaugurated this past weekend in the presence of prime ministers of Rwanda and Mauritius.

He says the hydropower plant is important for the two nations.
