Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) is one of the most important problems facing Australian companies across all industries today.
Environmental criteria considers how a company safeguards the environment, Social criteria examines how it manages relationships with employees and Governance deals with a company’s leadership, executive pay, audits and shareholder rights.
So ESG goes beyond climate change and resource scarcity - it encompasses all non-financial topics that are not typically captured by traditional financial reporting.
As businesses come under scrutiny and pressure to be transparent they are starting to focus on strategies that will balance the value of their broad group of stakeholders and at the same time manage their obligations to community and environment.
