The Mason Jar's Furry Friends Friday featuring Beauty

Looking for an active fur-friend to keep you on the move? Meet Onyx! This happy, butt wiggler came to us with such a fun personality. He loves to play and be with people. His sad story began as a stray in a trailer park as a pup. He proudly wore his collar and roamed around looking for fun. He was always seen playing with the neighborhood children and yet not really having anywhere to call home. After a couple of months, he was found tied to someone's porch. After searching for his home and being unsuccessful in finding his owners, he was brought to our shelter. Still, no one claimed this happy little guy. We are not sure how someone would not claim this smiling boy with such a love for people and fun. We tried to make him feel special, but without a family of his own, he still feels lonely. But that doesn't stop him from showing his excitement when he sees people. The butt and tail swing back and forth with such vigor, he grabs his toy and tells us that he is ready for fun.  With a face as sweet as his, who can say no? 

 

Onyx is great with children of elementary school age (based on who he was seen playing with regularly) and people in general. He loves playing with his toys, especially squeaky bones and rope toys. He has a genuine love for people and just wants to 'be part of the crowd'. Onyx is under a year old and is estimated to be approximately 7-9 months old. He is at an age where socialization is very important for his development as a multi-dog household and/or to have good dog park manners. Sadly, he was not taught all of the skills he needs to be a really well-trained pup. Would you be willing to teach him a full set of good boy manners? He would love to show you how good of a boy he can be. He just needs a family to let him shine again. 

 

Onyx is waiting to meet all potential adopters that visit him at the Van Buren County Animal Control Shelter at 58040 County Road 681 in Hartford. Our phone number is 269-621-4624. He doesn't have a preference in what county his adopters live in. He is currently vaccinated and ready to venture into a loving home.

Our Handsome Man Apollo! Currently loves rough housing with his sister. Having already mastered climbing stairs, he’s working hard on house training, sitting on request, waiting for permission at open doors and managing his excitement to keep all four paws on the ground! Apollo is a sweet puppy with a loving disposition. He is said to be a mix of Anatolian Shepherd Dog and Yellow Labrador Retriever whose birthday is February 21st, 2026. Meet Titan, the guy who has a heart as big as his body. Despite his size, Titan is a very gentle soul. He loves to spend his time with people soaking up all the attention he can get. Titan walks amazing on leash - kid tested and approved! He loves to be outside exploring wherever you take him. Titan is your typical Akita - mighty and athletic. He would need a home with a taller fence or supervised/leashed outings. Titans' favorite human food is chicken, so he will need to stray from those critters also. However, given the right set up, Titan is bound to make a perfect addition to the family.  Contact Cass County Animal Control at 269-445-3701 or visit the shelter at 323 M-62, Cassopolis, MI 49031 to learn more about this terrific guy, Titan!  His adoption fee is waived but he is not yet neutered making his adoption only $25. Titan wishes you would come to the shelter to meet him. For a nice snack he will even shake your hand like the gentleman he is!
