John won the multi-team IAC meet at Tioga—breaking the course record with a time of 16:59 and helping the team win overall—then won the Owego Invitational with a time of 15:51.

Tuesday, September 26: Watkins Glen soccer's Ava Kelly is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Ava recorded six goals and an assist across a trio of wins, including the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Trumansburg and a four-goal performance in a 7-1 win over Spencer-Van Etten/Candor.

Tuesday, September 19: Watkins Glen/Odessa Montour swimming's Alannah Klemann is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Alannah won four events across a pair of wins over Elmira-Notre Dame and Ithaca. Klemann won the 50 free and the 500 free against the Crusaders, then the 200 individual medley and the 200 free relay against the Little Red.

Tuesday, September 19: Spencer-Van Etten/Candor soccer's Steven Novak is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Steven recorded five goals and two assists across a trio of wins, including a hat trick against Newark Valley (3-2 final), a pair of assists against Elmira-Notre Dame (2-1 final), and a brace against Odessa-Montour (4-0 final).

Tuesday, September 12: Lansing volleyball's Jolene Gunther is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Jolene recorded a team-high 14 service points and nine digs in a 3-1 win over Trumansburg, then helped the Bobcats win the Corning Hawks Volleyball Tournament as the team's libero.

Tuesday, September 12: Moravia football's Luke Landis is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Luke went 7-of-11 passing for 165 yards and four touchdowns under center in a 70-0 win over Thousand Islands.

Tuesday, September 5: Dryden boys soccer's Jacob Totman is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Jacon recorded two goals and two assists across a pair of season-opening wins, including a game-winning free kick with 40 seconds to go in a 3-2 comeback win against against Spencer-Van Etten/Candor. He also had a game-winning assist off a corner kick to Paul Busby in double overtime against Elmira-Notre Dame in a 2-1 win.

Tuesday, June 13: Dryden track and field's Xavier Scott is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Xavier finished eighth in the triple jump and 11th in the long jump at the NYSPHSAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Tuesday, June 13: Odessa-Montour track and field's Tori Brewster is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Tori finished sixth in the 100-meter dash at the NYSPHSAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, also participating in the 200-meter dash.

Wednesday, June 7: Ithaca track and field's Tsadia Bercuvitz is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Tsadia broke the school record in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:50.88 at state qualifiers. This time qualifies her both for the state and national championships. The mark is the sixth best in the state among all ages and the best in the nation among eighth graders. Bercuvitz is one of six Little Red athletes to participate at states later this week in Middletown.

Tuesday, June 6: Lansing baseball's Ryan Pettograsso-Houk is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Ryan went 2-4 with a pair of game-tying RBI singles in a 4-3 win against Skaneateles in the NYSPHSAA Class B regional. Both hits came with 2 outs, including in the 7th inning with the Bobcats down to their final out. That hit set up the following batter Korbin Lovejoy to hit a walk-off single and send the Bobcats to their first state semifinal since 2018.

Tuesday, May 30: Schuyler Storm baseball's Daniel Lewis is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Daniel threw a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the 2-0 win over Unatego/Franklin in the Section IV Class C quarterfinals, scored the go-ahead run in a 12-8 comeback win over Thomas A. Edison in the semifinals, then allowed one earned run through 6.1 innings with eight strikeouts in the final against Bainbridge-Guilford, winning the sectional title 6-4. It's their first title as a combined team, Odessa-Montour's first since 2007, and Watkins Glen's first-ever title in the sport.

Tuesday, May 30: Ithaca lacrosse's Julia Blakeslee is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Julia scored a team-high six goals in the Section IV Class B Championship against Horseheads to help the Little Red prevail 16-3.

Wednesday, May 24: Moravia baseball's Luke Landis is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Luke tied a program record with 19 strikeouts on the mound while also driving in a pair of runs at the plate in a 11-2 win over Delhi/Downsville in the opening round of the Section IV Class C Tournament, the program's first sectional victory since 2016.

Wednesday, May 24: Lansing golf's Hailey Baughan is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Hailey won the IAC Championship with a score of 86 and helped the Bobcats win the team title.

Monday, May 22: Southern Cayuga softball's Ellie Brozon was ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health, the week of May 15th. Back on May 9th, Ellie recorded her 100th career hit and went 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and two RBIs in a 12-0 win over Whitney Point to close out the regular season at 10-4, their best record in over a decade.

Tuesday, May 16: Ithaca tennis player David Riccio is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. David won the Section IV Class A singles title, winning in straight sets in all 3 matches. He also helped the Little Red win the Section IV Class A team title and will be one of six players on the team moving on to state qualifiers.

Tuesday, May 9: Dryden track and field's Nathan Turner is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Nathan won four events (100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter relay, and 1,600-meter relay) to help the Lions win the Legends of the Night meet at Odessa-Montour.

Tuesday, May 9: Union Springs softball's Paityn Delaney is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Paityn threw a no-hitter, striking out 10 of 15 batters faced, in a 13-1 win over Whitney Point in 5 innings.

Wednesday, May 3: Candor track and field's Kara Morse is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Kara won four events (high jump, triple jump, high jump relays, and triple jump relays) at the Dan Fravil Memorial Ithaca Relays.

Tuesday, May 2: Lansing tennis's Bernardo Simoes is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Bernardo won all three of his matches in straight sets across a trio of wins over Trumansburg, Union Springs and Watkins Glen. As a team, the Bobcats only lost one match over those three meetings. With the win over Watkins Glen, they're now the only undefeated team left in the IAC.

Tuesday, April 26: Schuyler Storm baseball's Alex Holmes is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Alex allowed no earned runs and struck out 16 batters across two complete games in a three game sweep of Spencer-Van Etten/Candor.

Tuesday, April 26: Dryden softball's Kahlen Cornell is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Kahlen went 12-for-13 at the plate across three games, including a walk-off double in a comeback 7-6 win against Spencer-Van Etten/Candor and 5 RBIs in a 18-7 win against Newark Valley. Cornell also struck out 19 batters across the final 2 games of the week. On Monday, she also threw a no-hitter and reached 300 career strikeouts.

Wednesday, April 19: Southern Cayuga softball's Ava Harvatine is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Ava struck out 34 batters in a trio of wins against Moravia (10), Lansing (10), and Groton (14).

Tuesday, April 18: Dryden track and field's Xavier Scott is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Xavier won four events (110-meter hurdles, long jump, triple jump, and 400-meter relay) at the Marathon Spring Fling, helping the boys team finish in first place.

Tuesday, April 11: Union Springs softball's Hailee Smith is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Hailee recorded 29 strikeouts in the circle, had 10 RBIs at the plate, and hit two home runs (including a grand slam) across three wins, outscoring Lansing (6-4), Richfield Springs (20-0), and Groton (15-0) by a total score of 41-4.

Tuesday, April 11: Trumansburg baseball's Nik Nelson is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Over five wins for the Blue Raiders, Nik hit .412 with a team-high 11 RBIs while going 2-0 on the mound with a 0.88 ERA, 10 Ks, and a complete game

Tuesday, April 4: Ithaca lacrosse's Zach Cartmill is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Zach recorded six goals and three assists in a pair of wins over Maine-Endwell (11-10 in overtime) and Horseheads (8-7). Cartmill had four goals, one assist against the Spartans and two goals, two assists against the Blue Raiders.

Wednesday, March 22: Union Springs basketball's Payton Gilbert is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Payton recorded 12 points and five rebounds in a 45-40 loss to Randolph in the Wolves' first-ever appearance in the NYSPHSAA Class C semifinal.

Tuesday, March 21: Moravia basketball's Kyler Proper is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Kyler scored 10 points and dished out four assists in a 50-43 loss to Randolph in the NYSPHSAA Class C semifinal.

Wednesday, March 15: Moravia basketball's Aiden Kelly is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week. Aiden scored a game-high 17 points in a 58-38 win over Dolgeville in the NYSPHSAA Class C regional.

Wednesday, March 15: Union Springs basketball's Kailey Kalet is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Kailey scored a team-high 20 points - including 15 in the second half - and dished out eight assists in a 60-47 win over Cooperstown in the NYSPHSAA Class C regional.

Tuesday, March 7: Newark Valley basketball's Hayley Beebe is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Hayley scored a game-high 18 points in a 51-35 win over Chenango Forks in the Section IV Class B Championship, helping the Cardinals win their second straight sectionals title and their first ever in Class B.

Tuesday, March 7: Ithaca track and field's Moss Dengler is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Moss finished in 2nd place in the pole vault at the NYSPHSAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, setting an indoor school record at 14 feet, 6 inches.

Thursday, March 2: Groton wrestling's Aidan Shufelt is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Aidan finished in 3rd place at 110 pounds in Division II at the NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships, defeating Unadilla Valley-Unatego's Caleb Cole in the 3rd place match by a 5-3 decision.

Tuesday, February 28: Ithaca track and field's Eliza DeRito is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Eliza broke the school record and won the 600-meter run at the Section IV State Qualifiers with a time of 1:39.86 to qualify for the NYSPHSAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Tuesday, February 21: Ithaca basketball's Luke Little is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Luke scored a team-high 20 points, assisted the go-ahead basket to Will Holmes with 11 seconds to go, and hit 2 free throws with 3.5 seconds left in a 61-58 win over Union-Endicott in the STAC Championship, helping the Little Red win its first title since 2017.

Tuesday, February 21: Union Springs basketball's Xavia Evener is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Xavia scored 14 points off the bench in a 67-24 win over Odessa-Montour to help the Wolves win the IAC Small School Championship for a second straight season.

Tuesday, February 14: Trumansburg track and field's Tyler Verrill is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Tyler won the 55-meter hurdles at the Section IV Championships with a personal record of 8.34 seconds and finished second in the triple jump to help the Blue Raiders win the boys Division II title.

Tuesday, February 14: Marathon wrestling's Melodie Sutton is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Melodie won the 120 weight class at the Section IV Championships with pins against Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour's Jackie Mace and Chenango Forks' Kathryn White.

Tuesday, February 7: Candor basketball's Jadon Heidl is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Jadon recorded a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double in a 66-33 win over Groton, then scored a game-high 15 points in a 62-34 win over Bainbridge-Guilford.

Tuesday, February 7: Moravia basketball's Allison Kehoe is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Allison set a program record with seven three-pointers in a single game in a 54-41 win over Southern Cayuga, then tied her own record with seven more threes in a 42-28 win over Port Byron.

Tuesday, January 31: Watkins Glen swimming's Ryan Dean is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Ryan won three events (200 medley relay, 200 individual medley, and 100 fly) in a 95-80 win over Elmira, then won the 100 free and the 100 back to help beat Southern Cayuga 84-66.  

Tuesday, January 31: Odessa-Montour basketball's Hannah Nolan is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Hannah recorded a team-high 14 points, eight rebounds and seven steals in a 39-20 win over Jasper-Troupsburg, then recorded a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double (plus eight steals) in a 47-34 win over Newfield.

Thursday, January 26: Newark Valley wrestling's Cadin Creeley is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Cadin won the 138 weight class at the IAC Championships with a trio of pins, then won the title with an 8-3 decision. The Cardinals finished in third place in the team race.

Tuesday, January 24: Southern Cayuga basketball's Charli Bennett is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Charli recorded three double-doubles in a trio of road wins at Dryden (15 points, 10 steals, 9 rebounds) Groton (24 points, 15 rebounds) and Newfield (28 points, 17 rebounds).

Tuesday, January 17: Lansing track and field's Kristen Johnston is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Kristen won 3 events (high jump, long jump, and triple jump) at the Twilight Invite, then won the high jump at the Winter Classic while also placing 4th in the long jump and triple jump.

Tuesday, January 17: Ithaca hockey's Stephen Yang is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Stephen recorded a hat trick and added an assist in a 7-1 win against Mohawk Valley on Senior Night.

Tuesday, January 10: Spencer-Van Etten/Candor bowling's Janelle Marsh is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Janelle bowled a team-high 617 series in a 4-0 sweep of Groton, then bowled a team-high 508 in a 4-0 sweep of Thomas A. Edison.

Tuesday, January 10: Groton wrestling's Donovan Mitchell is ESPN Ithaca's Fueling Excellence High School Athlete of the Week, presented by Cayuga Health. Donovan won the 215 weight class at the Ross Kordell Rotary Tournament and received the Most Outstanding Wrestler award for his weight class. He also won at the 285 level against Odessa-Montour earlier in the week.
