Complicating the situation: The Connollys’ property was sold in 2008 to cover Violette’s medical expenses. In 2012 the proceeds were used to help buy two and a half acres on High Street with an 1,863-square-foot duplex built in 1957, across the street from the Block Island School.
The town rezoned the High Street land in April, and last month poured a foundation in back of the duplex for a new 1,600-square-foot, $600,000 modular home. The structure is being built off-island and will be made available to the town manager to rent when it is assembled later this fall.
