Lawrence T. Persico, 71, was installed as the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Erie on Oct. 1, 2012. In an interview with the Erie Times-News on Oct. 17, 2022, Persico discusses his decade-long tenure, including his handling of the clergy sex abuse crisis, and his hopes for the diocese over the next four years. Persico must submit his retirement papers to the Vatican when he turns 75.
