Despite more conversations and greater advocacy around equal pay, the challenges associated with gender wealth disparity still remain. Time out of the work-force raising children, disproportionate representation in part-time retail and hospitality roles, as well as the gender pay gap mean women are also trailing men in superannuation balances when reaching retirement age. They were also more significantly impacted by COVID-19 and participation in the government’s early release of super scheme.
