Cindy, the Event Director for Airwaves Festival (one of Australia's first successful drive-in festivals during a pandemic) is an absolute ideas machine. Writing the plan for Airwaves down on the back of a cereal box during a plane flight, Cindy went on to organise an event that could challenge big-name festivals in line-up, theme, and smooth operation.
She joined me on freestival to detail how Airwaves came together, the joy in seeing hundreds of people decked out in space-themed costumes, and how volunteering is one of the best ways to support live music events (especially for those with limited funds available).
