On this edition of the Frederick County Sports Show, Steve Nibbs and Paul Dumars continue their Frederick County High School Football Season Preview Series with one of the most accomplished coaches in Maryland high school football — Linganore Lancers Head Coach Rick Conner.

Coach Conner has been a fixture on the Linganore sidelines for more than 40 years as a head coach and assistant and enters another season as the MPSSAA's winningest active head coach.

And he's coming off one of the greatest seasons in Linganore history.

The Lancers went undefeated in 2025 and captured the MPSSAA Class 3A State Championship, completing a dominant postseason run that included a 43-0 shutout of City College and a 41-12 state semifinal victory over Milford Mill Academy.

Conner joins Steve and Paul to reflect on that championship run, the incredible tradition surrounding Linganore football, and what it takes to maintain that standard of excellence year after year. They also look ahead to 2026 and what Lancers fans can expect as the defending state champions prepare to do it all over again.

On this edition of the Frederick County Sports Show, Steve Nibbs and Paul Dumars continue their Frederick County High School Football Season Preview Series, welcoming Middletown Knights Head Football Coach Collin Delauter to the program.

Coach Delauter knows all about the tradition and expectations that come with Middletown football. He helped the Knights capture a state championship as a player in 2011, then returned to lead his alma mater to the Maryland Class 2A State Championship as head coach in 2019, defeating Potomac 34-15 in the title game.

The Knights are coming off an 8-3 season in 2025, which included a dominant 35-0 playoff victory over Owings Mills. Middletown also defeated Liberty 51-7 on the field in the postseason before later having to forfeit the game due to an ineligible player.

Coach Delauter joins Steve and Paul to look back at last season and, more importantly, turn the page toward 2026 as the Knights prepare for another year of Frederick County football.

Coach Ahearn brings nearly 40 years of coaching experience to the sidelines, with a career that has taken him to programs all across the Frederick area. Now, he's focused on the challenge of rebuilding the Thomas Johnson Patriots.

Ahearn talks candidly about a disappointing first season at TJ and why turning the program around isn't something that's going to happen overnight. Instead, it's about rebuilding piece by piece, developing the players they have and teaching these young men what it takes to become winners — both individually and as a football team.

He also discusses what he's learned through nearly four decades of coaching, the progress he's seeing within the Patriots program and what TJ fans can expect as they continue building toward a brighter future.
