He shares how he grew up admiring the Urbana football dynasty, watching the Hawks as a 10-year-old alongside his father, Roy, who was also a football coach, and why Urbana always stood out as a place he hoped to coach someday.

Shoemaker also discusses his playing career as a quarterback and safety at Boonsboro High School before continuing as a safety at Shepherd University. He looks back on his first season leading the Hawks, which featured a strong playoff run, including a regional championship before Urbana's season ended in the state quarterfinals.
