Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. Well, that's right, you heard the man that time of week. My name is Bernie Frida. We are coming to your line from the tarrac dot com studios here in Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio, tyraq dot com. We'll help you get there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping for your road hazard protection and over ten thousand recommend an installers tyrat dot com the way tire buying should be. Well, I would suspicion the good folks at Tuscaloosa between now and ten hours from now, we'll have rope burns from their rosary praying for the best possible outcome. They watched from the sidelines today and now they get to watch from the sideline Sunday to see what the committee decides. And that's what I'm going to attempt to do here in the next five minutes is not tell you who I think should be in or who deserves to be in. I'm going to try to make a prediction as to who the committee will put in. And you know exactly where I'm going with this. Is it going to be Alabama or is it going to be SMU. And so for those who listen, selectively, try not to because I'm gonna check a lot of boxes here for starters. Let's ask you a question that's not a rhetorical question. Would Alabama beat SMU? Yes, yes they would, Yes, yes they would. Would SMU have beaten Georgia this year, LSU or South Carolina or Missouri? No, no, no, they wouldn't have. I don't think so. But BAMA beat Georgia and LSU and South Carolina and Missouri. By the way, SMU lost to Clemson Saturday night. Who lost to Georgia and South Carolina? If you're scoring at home, the cumulative record of Bama's upon was ninety two and fifty two, forty games over five under. The cumulative record of SMUs opponents were eighty three and seventy five. And uh, you know, I get it. Who wore SMU's biggest wins. Louisville pitt Okay had a prior to Saturday. Their lone loss was a three point loss at BYU, a team that up until last week was in the mix for the Big twelve title game. Give it up to SMU. Eleven and two. First year at a brand new conference, they were picked to finish seventh and they defied the odds as it were. So they had a good season. You know, they they made it to their conference champions You get me. SM had a very good season.
You know.
By the way, SME doesn't have a quote bad loss like Alabama's twenty four to three defeat to Oklahoma on their resume. Matter of fact, Bama finished for three losses, but again they have a win over the SEC champ Georgia, plus Missouri, LSU, and South Cairline. All those teams had at least eight wins this season. See, I don't really want to hear about bad losses because if you're gonna tell me about bad losses, that means there's good losses. And there's no such thing as a good loss. A good loss is like a good kidney stone. But here's the issue and where I think the committee is going with this, and before I before I get to that, I want to just talk something and about this laughable SEC hate that people are just dying to hate the SEC just because and they're living in the past, they're living on a reputation. And in case you missed it, on current NFL rosters the SEC, there are four hundred and thirty nine SEC players on current NFL rosters more than any other conference. And it's not close. Fourteen of the last twenty national champions came from the SEC. By the way, if you want to go back to ninety eight, the SEC has not only been a conference that's routinely won the national championship, They've had five different teams do it. Tennessee did it, Ulics, you did it, Florida did it. Alabama and Auburn have all done it. Even conferences like the Big Ten. Finally Michigan got through last year, but only Ohio State Michigan. You get the picture early. You know, let's not go down that road because we're going to convoluted and the people who listen selective leader are going to think I'm you know, some SEC hank and I'm not. I try to keep it real here. A lot of people make predictions and based on who they hope will win, or what they think should happen, or what would best serve their lives if it happened. There are objective truths in our personal feelings when it comes to these five minutes here, we're dealing with objective truths, all right. And if the conference championship games mean nothing anymore. Well, that's as wrong as rain I'm opening day. There has to be some semblance of importance to these games, if not even for seeding. You know, obviously you know the BYU or checked at the Boise State UNLV game in a lot the winner was going to the playoffs, the loser goes to a different bowl game. Same thing with Arizona State and Iowa State. And I guarantee you at Clemson lost Saturday night, the committee was not going to take a four loss team. So the games do matter, and they also can set up buys, and they also can set up you know, seeding and a home game or all sorts of different things. So I don't really care what ward Manuel said during last Tuesday's ranking show. I guess you know. For me, it's clear Alabama played a solid schedule. Finishing nine to three is commendable. The road loss to Vanderbilt's understandable. The Commodores are a much improved team. I realized that twenty four to three to loss to Oklahoma, it features Alabama's lowest Alabama's lowest point total since two thousand and four, is a bad optic. There's a bad optic, and you know SMU was largely dominated Saturday night until they came up with seventeen fourth quarter points, fought incredibly hard late against a good, not great good Kennon three Clemson team almost took it to overtime. Almost almost doesn't mean much. So where the hell am I going with this? Who's it going to be SMU or Alabama? Not what I think it should be, not who I'm predicting it might be. I'm going to try to read the mind. And it's against the law to practice psychology without a license of the committee. And when I get up Sunday morning and we are all in front of our TV, I believe I believe the number twelve seed will be the SMU Mustangs. That's who I believe the committee will pick. And here's what I think it's going to look like. Your first round byes will be organ as your number one seed, right on schedule. Thank you, Penn State. I bet two and a half units on that game. We'll have feather gun here in about ten minutes. There's no value in a torn up ticket. I'm not going to take a picture lap. You know how I felt about Penn State. James Franklin's only one in seventeen now against top five teams. Goregon's the fastest team in the world. Forget it's stupid, come on, stupid. I'm surprised they got with an eight. Georgia will be the number two seed, well deserve. We're going to talk about them a little later. I'm not saying listen, this team's got the DNA, this defense, there's no question their defense is worthy of a national title. I know they'll be questions about a shaky offense, but when you know the fourth quarter, in the final five minutes roll around and the situation demand's greatness, Kirby Smart and his crew they're great, and they did with a backup quarterback. So I think O're going to be one. Georgia two, Boise State three, Arizona State fourth. All these teams seem pretty straightforward. Remember, Boise State started the weekend five spots ahead of Arizona State, and then they beat in UNLB by two touchdowns Friday night in the Mountain West Conference title game. Meanwhile, Arizona State dominated Iowa State in the Big twelve title game, and they were two spots ahead of Clemson in Tuesday's rankings. Clemson did not do enough to get a first round by and Boise State will probably stay ahead of Arizona State because they started out to day ahead of Arizona State and they won by fourteen in their conference championship game. So when December twentieth rows around, you'll have I believe number twelve SMU at eleven and two the at large team face at number five Texas the at large team. I think you have number eleven Clemson, the a SEC champion, traveled at Penn State as an at large team. The eleven six matchup SMU Texas will be the twelve five matchup. Indiana will be tenth. I know, Kurt Signetty's all pissed off because you're gonna have to go to Notre Dame and play the Notre Dame fighting Irish as the number seven seed. They're both eleven and one. Just go there and beat him, Kurt, I don't what the hell is everybody talking about right front team got COVID. We're gonna shut up. Just play the games on the field. Jesus number nine, Tennessee, they'll be the ten and two at large. They're dangerous. They visit Ohio State number eight and tell me every one of these games don't have just a phenomenal storyline. Really, SMU, they can validate their selection by beating Texas. Meanwhile, Texas is they haven't didn't meet the top twenty five team all year, sam U's twelfth, here's their chance. I thought, I thought Steve Sarkisan did an outstanding job though Clemson Dabosweeney sticks in. Can can James Franklin win a meaningful game? That's it? You know, Indiana, you know they've suffered from this inferiority complex that everybody's ripping them right and left. I think Doug Elif said they should even be in the playoffs where they get to play Notre Dame, which will be a phenomenal in state game at Notre Dame. That'd be a hell of a program builder to beat them, you know, wouldn't be good for Notre Dame's coach, but they've had a good year in the Ohio State Ryan Day. Can you imagine if he's won and done. It's Tennessee teams for real. Things are going to be interesting, right and some of these head to head results are going to bring storylines along with it. So there you have it. It doesn't matter what I think it doesn't matter theoretically who would be who if they played. Do I think Alabama would be at SMU on a neutral absolutely, but the fifths and butts for candy and nuts. You'll all have a merry Christmas, which is what just seventeen eighteen days away now. So that's my prediction that I predict the comedee. We'll pick SMU for the reasons I just gave, and we shall see what we shall see coming up. Get your pens and pencils ready. You'll be drinking from a fire hose. Fez. We'll be talking a lot of NFL. But he wants to revisit the college plays he made last week and I got I tried to warn him on Penn State, but I was unsuccessful. All right back at the Bernie Fraddle Show Fox Sports Radio. Just hours away from Week fourteen of the National Football League, the resumption after that Baffo Thursday night game between Green Bay and Detroit. And you know him, you love me Candle without him. He joined this during football season, during this time slot every Saturday night. Yep, it's time the time, It's the physick fly. These are the five things.
You need to hear about. No with the only back Toup Back Hilton Super Contest winner Steve Zig Here's Bernie Fredo.
All right, fez, So, I know there are multiple NFL teams on buy this week, but be that as it may, there's actually several plays I like you'll get to. But I think you wanted to have a quick recap analysis of the conference champion college football games based on some wagers place heading into today. So why don't you take it away?
Oh my goodness, MC clients are going to kill me. Went onen four today, Bernie on college football plays, I gave out and three and four I gave out early in the weekend. You know, Closing line value CLV. We talk about it all the time, and closing line value crashed. And for me, I had Texas minus one twenty five. They could have gotten there, but they didn't. I had SMU plus one. They closed minus three. They could have won, but they didn't. And probably the one I regret the most. But as we've discussed in pre production, I penn Stay plus four and it closed three. And of course James Franklin can't win the big game. But you know, at some point you get you beat the closing number game after game, you're going to win. Where So they say, I'm starting to question that at least this year.
I am, Well, there's a half seg so you want to be a gambler. I would say this. I know you're an NFL expert college I might have the edge on you because I've been doing it so long, But you just have a different situation than coms fence and one side of the ball. You got better athletes no matter who's playing, and maybe I got good closing line value. I actually got some freeze yesterday Organs legs three if I had two and a half units time. So there's marble fade on James Franklin. I mean, it's just death taxes and James Franklin. Well, we'll just leave it there. Any final thoughts about the upcoming twelve team playoff and who you might like?
Oh, you know, and it's so freaking frustrating because of course I like Oregon Minas three also, but I can't go back to my clients and tell them late three when I told them to take four man, that's a very profitable middle and heck, the wrong game landed three because Smooth wound up landing three. Thoughts. I think there's a.
Debate that's who was a favorite, so that doesn't count.
Should should SMU be in? SMU opened up a minus one thousand favorite to be in. They're down to only like a minus three fifty. This is the DraftKings. I think this is a ludicrous because SMU played well today, So you've got an eleven and one team versus a nine and three Alabama team, And you really can't doc SMU that much for losing basically playing almost on the road against Clemson and they very close game. It would be a travesty. The best example I can give, let's assume Bernie I'm in. I'm they made me king, and I'm in charge of putting teams in, and I put in Alabama over SMU. I would never get another job in this country. I'd be just ridiculed for completely incompetent guys stupid. And yet somehow we're still worried. The odds are saying there's a viable chance that they're going to sell out and put Alabama in.
No, that's well stated. I don't know if you've heard my opening. It's difficult to get in the mind of the committee, but I'm fairly certain they will put SMU in. Would Alabama beat SMU, Yes, they would. Would SMU beat Georgia, Missouri, LSU, or South Carolina all those teams at eight wins, No, I don't think they would. Bama did that, and Bama num Ley did that. Georgia and South Carolina'd be cleansing the team. SMU lost to tonight, but SMU got to the conference championship game, and they're going to stay true to their model and this and this is just it's made for TV event. They do the best they can, we're all gonna be watching. I just think Alabama is gonna be left out here? Would I leave them out?
No?
They're the better team. You'd agree they're the better team, right, Faz.
Yes, But if we're going to take the twelve best teams, we just called Brad Powers and say just send me your power ratings, it's the teams that have the twelve best seasons that those are the teams that should make the playoffs.
Yeah.
No, And that's essentially what they're doing. And it begins with championship based performance. So if you're the Big ten champ or the SEC champ, or the Big twelve or the Mountain West of the ACC, you're getting in. And three of those five who got to the championship game and yet lost like a Texas, like a Penn State, et cetera, they're getting in as well. All right, let's move on to the NFL, FAZ, because there's actually some games that I really like this week, and I want to get your thoughts and then we'll get your best bets. I want to start with Jaguars Titans. The Titans are a team that can't find there. Took us with both hands. They're laying four points, They're owing five at home this year against the number. As a dog every time one in seven is their last eight games. You dress them up as a favorite. And I'm not a Max Jones hater. I grab Jacksonville And for your thoughts on this game, yeah.
Down to three point twenty five. The market absolutely agrees with you. My power ratings actually would lean to Tennessee. But my power ratings are wrong because they're not incorporating enough. How Will Levis does not take care of the ball. And the special teams are so bad to the Titans. This team gives up so many defensive special teams touchdowns and Jaguars are still playing hard. I got nothing on this game.
I passed so Panthers, Eagles. I'm seeing four teams out there. Are we in agreement? There are four teams you can grab now.
There were not anymore, but there will be tomorrow. It's painted thirteen and a half. But if you just be cool and you wait it out, you'll get fourteen.
I know, well I got it earlier today, and I know we're going to be on the opposite sides of this, fez, but hear me out. You know I feel about double digit lines. And let's not forget the Eagles are zero and five against the spread in their last five games as a double digit favorite. All of a sudden, here come to town, the plucky Carolina Panthers and Cuba Hubbard, Bryce Young who's finding new life. They've covered four in a row. And who do the Eagles play next week? They play in state rival Pittsburgh. So I grab the fourteen for multiple reasons. We'll see what happens. The Eagles have been a double digit favorite twice this year, didn't cover either time. I know you're on the opposite side. To go ahead and make your case.
Well, I played the Eagles first half. This is available. Draftings miss seven minus one twenty because a team that's laying fourteen should not be laying seven on the first half.
That's just lay later and right now, yeah be later, yeah yeah.
At least eight exactly. So that's just it's just not being priced correctly. There have been enough fourteen point favorites this year for the makers get it right. So I just if you're about the Eagles, I would play it that way. I can't imagine that Hurts is going to be running in the fourth quarter if the Eagles are up twelve, by example, So I mean, when am I ever going to disagree with taking plus fourteen? But the ability bet I made on the game with the Eagles.
First half, Oh okay, I'm okay, very good. For some reason, I thought you you had liked the Eagles minus twelve and a half on the sand off line, But I stand corrected. Anyway, I like those two plays. Let's talk about the Falcons and Vikings. Kirk Cousins and the Falcons will never get any of my money. However, there's an interesting factoid here, Fez. When Cousins loses two games in a row, he's six to zero against the number in their third game, and I believe they're catching what five and a half Atlanta? What's the number in Minnesota?
Yeah, it's up to six. You know. It is interesting because I'll argue that, well, Kirk Cousins doesn't play in the NFL anymore. There's this impost that can't throw the ball any further than I can, and I'm a sixty one year old former chess master, so great candidate master.
Sorry, so.
You've got a revenge game. Normally expect the quarterback with the revenge coming back to his old stomping grounds is going to have a big game. But I mean literally, he can't throw the ball, so I can only look towards Minnesota.
H I'm not going to be involved in that game whatsoever. Now, if you played Boris Spasky, what would be the line? Would you be? Like minus one sixty?
You know, I'm glad you brought this up because famously, I'm the guy that lost to on the Purdue money line Bobby Fisher. But Bobby Fisher could play me one million times and he would beat me one million times when there's that much of a disparity between chess players. Just like I could play like like like a random you know, person that just doesn't that's never studied, and I would literally win every single game because there's just no luck in.
Chess, right right, Well, you got to be you got to protect that queen says, you got to protect queen the king. The king well, ultimately, but once you lose your how many how many chess matches. Do you win when you lose your queen first zero against the good thing? Thank you, thank you very much. Good night, folks. You be a great audience, all right, fez on, we do it all here on the show. Right. The Dolphins, we know they're bump slayers fourteen and four against the number and their last eight team at home when they are favored by six, are more they're favored against. They're favored by six against the Jets. I feel like the Jets have mailed it in. No breeze Hall, no sauce, gardener, Fez need I say more. It feels like this is a twenty eight to thirteen game in the waiting your thoughts, I.
Think it's going to be a twenty four to twenty game, and I actually look to the Jets. Let me make my case.
Go ahead, yes, sir, and.
You're spot on. Miami's just covered against two bad teams, laying seven, all right, So they covered, and they played very well against New England and against the Raiders. But the Jets are better than those two teams, and those two teams were catching seven. And before you say no, the Jets aren't better their garbage. If you wanted to bet against the Jets. You had so many opportunities this year, including but not limited to Jets. At Pittsburgh, Jets were minus three, Bernie. I know it doesn't seem possible, but Pittsburgh's better than Miami. So this is how much the Jets have been downgraded. The Jets were playing three in Pittsburgh and now they're catching six at Miami. So the market has thrown them into the dumpster fire can and I'm going to buy low on those horrible New York Jets.
Oh boy, that's an interesting one. You got me on that one says, Just for the record, you know, Mike McDaniel likes to be a bumps layer. Last year, the Dolphins played the Jets twice and they beat them by a total of sixty four to thirteen cumulutes lead in both games. You made it right, We'll see, We'll see, all right. Another game that's got my attention. It's not often that I like to lay seven, and I haven't done it yet, but the Browns are one and twenty straight up and six and fifteen against the number in their last twenty one games in Pittsburgh, and I don't want to hear about Jamis. He's two and three at a start. They act like he's a second coming of Giohnny Unitedson and five. This guy is a pick machine. Him and Max Staff are pick six machine. As you know. If I had a nickel for every time Jamis threw a pick six, Elon Musk could be more in mylong Can you make a case for the Browns here?
Yes, Jamis Winston is leading the NFL this year in snow angels after a win. So unfortunately he made those snow angels in Cleveland Stadium after beating these said Pittsburgh Steelers on national TV. So they're going to be angry, and Pittsburgh owns Cleveland, like you said, eight, there's my six and a half's again. I go back to the Hall of Fame. Bookmakers at Southpoint have it mina six and alf So go lay the six ap with Pittsburgh with a revenge. That's not too That loss was not excellent point long ago. So Pittsburgh wins going away.
Yes, all right, an.
Under the radar game. Though that's going to be dangerous, it might end up being good for the books. I have a funny feeling the New York Giants sneak up on New Orleans Sunday. Your thoughts.
You know this is weird because I agree as well, neighbors. I don't know if he's going to play, you know, the rookie wide receiver. Yeah, and he's really important. But who are the Saints, especially without Taysom Hill, to be laying five and a half big? So yeah, I mean, the Saints are just the Saints are really bad. The Giants are horrible, and the Giants are home. I mean, it wouldn't shock it wouldn't shock me at all. The Giants win the game at all. So Giants plus five and a half the only way I could go.
I'm not betting, well, not for nothing. The Saints are giving up like five yards for five yards per carry on the ground, so you can run on this team. Just just just saying, uh, Tampa Bay and the Raiders. The Raiders have been Plucky's a dog. You get to the end of the year. They're still playing hard for Antonio Pierce. Not very good, but they're they're they're playing hard and Tampa Bay is very banged up. So you got a nice cozy seven point number there. I've made a half point half a unit play on the Raiders.
Your thoughts, Yeah, I agree, and you can get plus seven. It's not easy to find, but I think it'll be easy, you know, tomorrow. And I know people don't like it when I say this, but this is this is the way it is. You want to win sports betting, you need to get plus seven mins one ten. You can't play plus seven miles one twenty, so you got to have enough outs and just I'm sure it'll pop up tomorrow. Like right now when I look on the screen, one book has it and the Raiders are playing hard and brock Bowers should have a big day against the Tampa Bay Bucks defense that is nothing special at all. I can see the Raiders putting up twenty three points on Tampa and losing like twenty seven twenty three, or they could lose twenty seven to twenty. So you got to be sure to get the plus seven and not pay extra big to get it.
And think about what you just said there. If you can see the Raiders putting up twenty three points, your team total is nineteen and a half. Maybe you look at a team total over for the Raiders.
No excellent. I like that as well. I'll certainly endorse that.
I'm just throwing that out there. I can't take credit for firing on it. I don't know if it's going to hit or not. But I like the way you said that. And the Raiders aren't playing hard, They're giving an effort, and can they score twenty points? I'm sure somebody's gonna fire on that play, all right. A game that's caught my eye of the Arizona Cardinals laying a field goal against the Seahawks. I always like teams who can run the ball versus teams who can't run the ball. The Seahawks cannot run the ball. They're twenty eighth in the league. The Cardinals are fifth in the league. Home game lightline. I've liked this Arizona team and Jonathan Gannon all year long. You have this Arizona not cover this game. I'm baffled if they don't cover this game.
This is the only game I really like. I'm on Arizona and I understand the line. I understand why Arizona's only mis two and a half because power rating wise, I make the game two and a half, but everything benefits Arizona one. I'm not sure I have them as a better team at home, and I'm laying less than a field go. It's mis two and a half right now, mice one ten at south point minus two and at minus one fifteen at book Maker. Secondly, they've got recent revenge. They just went to the Pacific Northwest evenly played game. Murray threw a seventy yard pick six, so Seattle one by ten. Stats were equal. And Arizona went to Minnesota and they played them equal. In fact, they actually should have won the game, and then they gave up. They got outscored thirteen to three at the end of the game, somehow lost by one point. So Arizona zone in two and playing just fine. If you look at their first ten games, for an they went six and four against the juggernaut of Buffalo's Detroit screen Bays Miami with two. I mean, it's just it's unbelievable that they could be six and four playing nothing but conten or teams in middling teams like Rams or Bears. So Arizona's undervalued, the defense undervalue. They face so many good quarterbacks. They're going to wax Seattle here.
I really like Eric, I think so too. All right, a game, I'm really conflicted on because it feels like a mismagic excuse me Buffalo laying three and a half at the Rams. Now, A couple things to note here, Fez, Buffalo's got Detroit on deck next week. In Detroit, They're going to want to win both of these games because they have designs on getting that home by Only one team in each league gets to buy this year in the playoffs, and they have the tiebreaker against Kansas City, so they can't falter here. I know some people are calling in a look ahead game and all that. I don't know how they look into guys' minds in the NFL, But here's the point. It's a little scary to lay the three and a half on the road, even though Buffalo is the far better team, So it's a stay away from me. One final thing, Fez, the Bills are own six against the spread in the first of consecutive road games the last six times they've played back to back road games.
Your thoughts, Yeah, you know, in six means they're one and six. I don't really pay much attention to short term trends like that. I don't like a team from Buffalo that just had two feet of snow dropped on them going out to La La Land and laying points. I think that's that is a bad spot. We've used to see New England, remember when they'd always go to Miami with those great Hyman Sure, well then just hey, it's sunshine, you know, and it's beautiful, and it's like like it's a distraction. So I don't like that. But having said that about the Rams, I don't want the Rams plus three and a half against a really good Bills team when if I fast forward to Thursday, you know, the Rams are playing Thursday and they're playing the Niners, and they're catching plus three lay one twenty at DraftKings. The Niners aren't even in the same area code as the Bills in terms of I got those teams separated by like six and a half points in my power ratings. So and you're going to spreads the same. So if you want to beat and are almost the same. So if you want to back the Rams, invest in the Rams. Do it next week when they're playing a Niner team that's completely decimated.
All right, So no more Matt Eberflus after that Thanksgiving Turkey. See what I did there. Their offensive coordinator Thomas Brown takes over. They had to San Francisco again. I know the Niners are a shell of what they have been, but you've got a nice little cozy three and a half point number here. I am not involved in the game, but I could honestly only look to the Niners your thoughts.
And it's down to three. I watch three point twenty five, but you can get minus three, Bernie. And if you like the Bears and I people listen. I don't want they don't want this. They do not want me to say this, but I'm going to say it because you know what I can tell you. Go talk to one hundred people that manage sports betting investment teams like I've done in the past, and every all of them will agree with what I'm saying. And yet Barney and the Bars and everyone will disagree. They want to hear what's the right side? What's the right side? So here it is, And don't scream at me, because this is the truth, all right. You can't handle the truths. But you want me on that wall.
Jack the Bears.
Yeah, the Bears plus four was the right side, and then at the Niners, minus three is the right side. And if you bet both of them. At minus one ten, you have a very profitable middle. The Bears fire the coach, but they've had ten days, and the Bears are healthy and the Niners are very injured. But the Bears stink and the Niners are average. So once that line hits three and the Niners are home, there, I mean, no one would debate the Bears are better than the Niners. Think about this, and the Niners are home and the lines down to three, now is the time you should have laid the three with the Niners.
Well, you know, the Niners are banged up, but they still have a few good men. Faz, there you go, Thank you, folks. All right, two more Kansas City hosts the Chargers Sunday Night. All they do is win, win, win. They're eleven and one. I don't make fun of teams. There are eleven in one. A little later in the show, I'm going to talk about I'm going to dissect the Chiefs. I know, everybody, it's an oxymoron to say they're an unimpressive eleven and one team. You can say that, but they know how to win their back to back Super Bowl champs. Nonetheless, I think you get max s effort out of the Chargers here, and I feel like this is another one score game, a light number. I'd be more inclined to lay the four than grab it. But it's a dicey game. Your thoughts.
I'm on the Chargers. The market disagrees with me. My handicap is that I know Kansasity is eleven and one, and I get it. In the Carolina game, they were never threatened to lose the game, and as soon as the game got tied, okay, God took over a quarterback and marched them right down and scored. But there are games they have won that the Chiefs didn't win their opponents have lost. Similar to a basketball team where basketball team's up one and their punts on the free throw line and they break both free throws. That's happened in multi sliple games, specifically Denver thirty five yard field goal. Denver botches it and they get it blocked. Okay, the Raiders are in position to kick a game winning field goal, they botch it, get a penalty, and they don't wind up winning. It's not that Kansas City did anything to win those games necessarily, Okay, they blocked.
The field goal.
Give me a break, they're like ninety percent to lose at that point. So because of that, the underlying stats in this team are for the Chiefs, they're a five hundred team. They're gaining five point three yards per playing, they're given up five point four. My experience in the history of the NFL, the only team that succeeded with subpar stats with the Patriots because they did so many other things right. And I don't think Kansas City does all these other things right like Belichick and the Patriots did, so I have to say the Chiefs.
So the Chiefs are one to thirteen teams or check that, twenty three teams in NFL history that started at eleven and one, but they have the lowest point differential plus fifty four. That doesn't really bother me. This is what will keep me off the Chargers. The Chargers have played three playoff teams this you're Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Kansas City. They're all in three. They've been outscored by a combined sixty seven and forty three, giving up an after three hundred and sixty yards per game. So the Chargers are a lot like Miami. They're bump slayers, but when they step up in class. They're not the same team. Finally, Cincinnati, nowez, I've always had a rule of thumb. When you get past November and you have a team that's under five hundred going on the road and they're laying points, no, I'm not doing it. I'm not going to have a team that's under five hundred lane points on the road. Dallas hasn't really quit. They're not very good. The five and a half folks are little juicy? Is that way? You see the number right now, Dallas catching five and a half money.
Night, exactly five and a half. I think we might get six eight if we wait. But I'm with you now, I'm gonna use the rule of two to explain why the Cowboys are the right investment. Let's move this spread two points in each direction. Since he was laying minus three at Dallas, I don't think Bernie we blink is yeah, okay, it seems it seems about right.
But they're under five hundred. Go ahead fast.
But they're the better team. They are the better team, and they have the much better ratifications. We can make the Bengals a favorite. But but if we move the two points in the other direction, and we made the Bengals a seven and a half point favorite, we'd be.
Like, what the f is this?
This is ridiculous. The Bengals have no defense. I'm not even sure the Bengals, like you said, are better than the Cowboys. And the game is in Texas? Are you kidding me?
So?
If plus seven and a half is a ludicrous number, by definition, plus five and a half has to be an attractive number. Also, we should bet Dallas.
Enjoy your day. We'll talk to you next week. And happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, all that stuff.
Okay, if you bet the college football and loss, just just let me know. Come to Vegas. I'll buy your dinner.
Okay, Oh there's some all right, Nick Jensen dropping f bombs, So come on, buddy. You keep your kids with that mouths, keep it to yourself. Love you, take care of pal.
Thank you, Berdie.
Coming up, final thoughts on the college football Saturday, which was really quite a day, even even if you're just a fan and you don't bet. I'm Bernie Frattle. We are coming to you live from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Tarrack dot Com studios. Keep it locked. You listened to the Bernie Fraddle Show. On Fox Sports Radio. Do're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio. How We're back at the Bernie Fraddle Show. Fox Sports Radio, coming to live from the Tarrack dot Com studios here in Las Vegas. A couple final thoughts following Saturday's conference championship slate Arizona State, massive props, massive respect. They were one hundred and one beginning of the year to emerge his conference champions For context, he had the same odds as a New Orland Saints to win the Super Bowl. Camp scadow Bow the first Big twelve player in history to ever have fifteen hundred rushing yards five hundred receiving yards in the same season. Here's the beauty man. Cinderella usually doesn't make an appearance in the college football playoffs, maybe in the baseball basketball playoffs March Madness, But the first year of this expanded college football playoff, man, you get the Arizona State Sun Devils, the plucky underdog, very much worth rooting for. I was on I had Jared Smith onlist, and I told him I thought that Arizona I felt like they win both lines of the scrimmage. And they did, and they forty five nineteen. They thrashed Iowa State. They lock up a berth in the Big twelve playoff field. I think they're leaving. I think they'll jump Boise State. No, no, I don't. They won't jump Bois State. They were five spots behind and Boise State won by fourteen, so you can't do that. But they're going to get a bye, all right. Give it up to Kenny Dillingham. They were picked to finish last in their league with the media. And this team is for real, man. And when you got at Camp scattable zero star recruit. His two scholarship offers were from Sacramento State and William and Mary. All Right, they're going to enter the playoffs in a six game winning streak and they are for real. They will be a very tough out. Meanwhile, I got some thoughts about Texas and the resume they had, you know, some long stretches Saturday that suggested they should have beaten Georgia. They won the stats totaled by about one hundred and twenty yards, threw the ball all over the lot, but eleven penalties for ninety four yards. Two errant fieldgal attempts the usually reliable Bert Auburn two picks by quinn Ewers that kept things close enough for Georgia to close it out in overtime. This eventual loss by Texas is going to have to call some serious attention to their college Football Playoff resume. I know they're in, but if you look at their resume, they're their ranks second. There are no danger missing out. They are in, but it's fair to ask whether they deserve a first round by the long Runs have zero wins over top twenty five opponents. They have two losses to Georgia, who comfortably won by fifteen points on the road in Austin and beat them a second time. Beat Texas a second time with a backup quarterback. Frankly, if you put Texas resume next to Semus on paper, looks similar, but again, I think the SEC is a much different gauntlet. They cannibalize each other. There you have it. I love Oregon for making me look smart. I knew they would pummel Penn State. That game was never in doubt. There's a reason Oregon went out and got Dylan Gabriel in the transfer portal and he torched Penn State for two to eighty four touchdowns. Yeah, you can call it forty five thirty seven. Penn State was never going to win that game, but they did win respect. They did ruin respect, they did play hard. But again, you know my model, there's no such thing as a good loss. That's like a good kidney stone. Speaking of good losses, how about those lovable acres coming out? Mark Madina Medina Magic. We switched to the NBA. Keep it locked right here. You listen to the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio. Well, that's right, you heard the man. Bernie Frattle Show keeps rolling right along. My name is Bernie Frattle. It's that time of the week, twelve midnight Pacific time on Saturday night, heading into Sunday. We dive into the NBA because there's so much news there, always is, real simple, It's that time. Mark Medina Medina Magic, our Fox Sports Radio NBA guru and this particular conversation tonight should be an interesting one because I think Mark, we have to really start to dissect this entity called the Los Angeles Lakers, and I have several angles from which I will approach this, but I want to start by their recent patch, losing six in a row. I facetiously said before the season would surprise me if they didn't make the playoffs. Now I give that maybe a ten percent chance, but I'll stick to the fact I think they're playing team at best. Can you really base can you really blame their recent bad patch because they don't have Austin Reeves on the floor, Jackson Hayes or Jared Vanderbilt your thoughts.
Well, you don't discount it, But there's so many other reasons. I think when you look at the big picture, Jared Vanderbilt being out the entire season has been a challenge because Anthony Davis has been really their only front core player and they're only good defender, and that correlates with them being one of the worst defensive teams in the league. But to your point, there's so many other things that have contribute to this. The roster continuity hasn't really been a thing. What it's been is that you're seeing a collection of average players that sometimes have good nights but can often have bad nights. You're seeing Lebron James face father times on forgiving touch even more. He's still playing a high level, but his three point range has have a lot to be desired. Before the game against Atlanta, I think he should shot a combined forty of thirty one from the field in the previous I think eight games. And then the other thing is that, you know, I'm not going to pin this necessarily on JJ Reddick, but the effectiveness that he had at the beginning of the season hasn't been as strong as it was since then. And so with that, you know, I think JJ is going to have to find a way to keep the team engaged because he knows his stuff, but riding the highs and lows of every NBA game, at some point it's going to have long diminishing returns, and I think we saw that. And I think the last thing that we I should discuss is that when you're really breaking down, they're seven of last nine losses, it's been across the board like four to the seven or by at least twenty points. But then there are also some games against Orlando and Atlanta specific or just came down to late execution flub and you would think that would not be a thing with the team that has Lebron. James Anthony Davis had some roster cotton Odor so uh.
He checked a lot of boxes there. I hold the I'm going to come back to JJ Redick in a minute, but I want to focus on Lebron. Look, he had a six game stretch where he was, you know, averaging less than five free throws forer game. He's not getting the rim. Five percent of his shots are at the rim. What did he miss seventeen threes in a row? Was that the number something? So he can't really shoot threes anymore. Moreover, I don't particularly like his body language, and can you speak to that. I know it's against a lot of practice psychology without a license, but look, you know last year they went all in Champagne on the tournament. This year they lose the end season tournament. He's a you know, this guy is in suff you know, during the COVID, I'm not gonna play a game not in front of the fans. Of course, he did it right. Whoever came up with the playing tournament should be fired the guy. It's just insufferable. But I got to tell you without him, and by the way, I'm all over the place, he remark. But it's true that with Lebron off the floor, they actually have a better plus minus. Is that true?
I need to look at the numbers here, but I think it's safe to say that they're a better team. Obviously when Lebron James was there. It's going to start and end with how healthy and effective he plays. But yeah, his three point shot has to get better. The body language has to get better. I think when you're looking at that Atlantic loss in particular, where you know he had thirty nine points, but his shot selection left a lot to be desired. He had some deep threes, including the final ones that you're saying, Okay, there should have been a better shot. But I will say, in fairness to Lebron, not that he's got to play better. But this whole idea with the Lakers was that they were going to lean on roster Connuity Anthony Davis, so that wasn't a Lebron James, and I think the one thing that we have to keep in mind is he's going to be forty December thirtieth, and he's already exceeded expectations. He's still playing a high level. But any of this idea from the Lakers or fans off only Lebron James gets right, you know, things will be solved. They can't operate that way because even if Lebron's doing all the right things and maybe fixes some things here or there, his body's going to wear out. And so I think that they have to prepare and make roster decisions as if this is going to be the sign of more things to come with Lebron not playing out his best And so what that means is Anthony Davis has to take his game to an even higher level. And if clearly the roster hasn't been consistent of healthy or not, they got to make moves before the trade deadline to put themselves in a better position to at least make the playoffs. So yeah, that's a lot of stuff to unpack because there's not a lot of easy solutions on how they execute those.
All due respect to Lebrown, I will never let his age be an excuse. If he can't play anymore, stop playing, all right. I know he's going to rue the day because he's going to miss the spotlight a lot more than the spotlight misses him. But I saw Kareem Abdul Jabbar win a championship at forty I saw Kareem Abdul Jabbar win a championship at forty one, and I saw him get to the NBA finals in forty two. And he was more spry at forty two than he wasn't thirty two. He wasn't a punchline in a movie anymore, so I will not allow him to use age. But I want to go back to JJ Reddick.
Well, can I interject on that though?
I mean sure, of course.
Look when you look at Kareem, he was able to do a lessons more approach because but he's better off around him.
Okay, fair enough, But Lebron says he's the greatest of all time, no excuses. He had a different role. I get it. He had an aging Magic Johnson, he had James Worthy, Bryant Byron Scott. I get all that. I get all that. But he filled a very capable role and was very critical, especially in crunch time, in winning those championships in eighty seven and eighty eight. So you know, Magic pulled a hamstring and Byron Scott got hurt before the eighty nine playoffs, where the Lakers might have repeated. But it is what it is. I'm just saying, we're going to keep hearing Lebron's age, Lebronze age. I get it. I just don't want to. I just don't want to give him a hall pass on right.
And here's where I fall on Lebron. When you look at his time with the Lakers tenure, you look at how you praise and criticize him in three facets, player GM or attempt at GM, and a social media leader behavior. I think that I think the social media leader behavior and the attempts to exert roster influence those have all been fair game. And there's been times where he's crossed the line. Times the Lakers have enforced boundaries. But when it comes to how he's played, I don't think that he deserves a lot of scrutiny on that. I mean, look, yeah, he's not playing at as high of a level as he could this season. But what I'm getting at is the scrutiny about Lebron mostly has less to do with what he's doing on the floor than everything else off on it. And that's my point, is that the fact that he's had to play at such a high level is indirectly an indictment that the rest of the Lakers roster isn't good enough for him to take a back suit.
Well, look, he did have thirty nine points Friday night. I know he's capable of stuffing more stats and blaming everybody else. I like sparring with you, Mark. We have fun with this, okay, So I mean what it's all about. We're not solving the world's problems, know an, you know some of them fair enough. Yeah, I'll talk it. I'll take it all right. I want to flip to JJ Redick. I really like JJ Reddick, But I want to go back to a line I've overused, the elegant Chuck Daily. Daddy Rich one of the when I grow up, I want to be Chuck Daily. He told me, I told you, you know, coaching an NBA team is like managing an adult daycare center. He didn't say that in the pejorative. It's just that they're growing men with families that make millions of dollars, and how you manage their egos and create the conditions where they want to play hard for you and not talk about you is difficult. I'm not quite sure if JJ Reddick really has that gear basketball like you. Through the charts, he checks every box, but there's a certain temperament. And I got to say, here's part B of the question. I know I'm going to bring down the house on this one. People don't think I know what I'm talking about. I'm not one hundred percent sure all things considered, if he's truly an upgrade over Darvinham, well.
It's an all fair game. But we let's break this down to two parts. I think the short term, I would say JJ Reddick is an upgrade over Darwnham, even though the records are identical. We have to keep in mind back to the Lebron conversation, is Lebron up until this point last season was playing at a better level because he's a year younger, and for all the roster imperfections, they at least had Jared Vanderbilt available, you know, at different points last season. And I think when you look at that, JJ has had a more innovative offensive mind, He's had better relationship capital with the players, He's you know, made better in game adjustments as far as you know, play calling, et cetera. But to the big picture, I do see some of the the early honeymoon and excitement and adrenaline rush of a new head coach fading. And one thing that leaves me concerned for how he is is that the highs and lows that he has that swings every game, that's going to make him less of effective as a coach as more time goes on. I think in the first month of the season, it was kind of seen as, oh, this is great. He cares and there's a total buy in, and he's invested in a job, and he's making this all these commitment and sacrifices, and he's in it with the players. But it's an eighty two game season. At some point you're going to wear everyone out, including yourself, if your emotions are that high. And he is the first to admit it before the season, when I asked him, you know what he foresees the biggest challenges, he said, managing the lows, and he's got to do whatever he can to you know, be more even keel about things, or else he's going to lose all his hair, or at least it all turned gray by the time April hoods.
So Sunday night, the Lakers host the Portland Trailblazer. I believe they're nine and a half point favorite. Will you be at that game?
Surprisingly, I won't. I made the going to go to the Clippers Rockets game because we see the Rockets are second to West right now. They're a team to be reckoned with very much.
So they're a nice club. I just brought that up as a throwaway question. I would expect the Lakers to write the ship Sunday night and get a w go to thirteen and eleven. But what message does that? You know, what image does that send? If the Lakers lose a home to the Trailblazer Sunday night, well.
That would be terrible because the Blazers are one of the worst teams in the league. Right I don't think Scoot Henderson is playing. I know that there's obviously questions on whether Austin Reeves will come back, But to your earlier point, at least for Portland, his availability cannot depend a hinge on whether they beat the Blazers. They're thirteenth in the Western Conference, they've lost three in a row. Yeah, the Lakers should win this now. If they win against Portland, as isn't suddenly I okay, now they've righted the ship. It's more of they just bought some time to hit the pause button. So, yeah, they lose to Portland, there's gonna be even more questions to unpack that, you know, as if we haven't already unpacked all of them.
You'll get to see a great game, I think Sonday night. The Rockets are are pretty good. They're fifteen and eighty. They're over five hundred on the road. The Clippers are fourteen to ten. The Rockets are a short favorite. Your thoughts Do you had some dealings with Houston lately? Didn't you want to share?
Yeah? I was able to connect with him on Aman Thompson earlier today at practice. Look, he's become one of the best defenders in the NBA. He has just so versatile. He can offend good perimeter players, front core players. He's incredibly fast, and you know, I thought it was cool to talking to him that he said that he considers himself one of the best best defenders in the league. And it wasn't just young man confidence. He is a guy that watch his film to look at you know, all these player tendencies like how they move their head. You know, are they a player that tries to foul be you know, how do they you know, try to use their dribble, et cetera. And so when you're looking at the Houston Rockets and they're, you know, stay in the Western Conference, it's technically fourth, but they were second before tonight's game, it's you know, only a game difference. Uh. They have a really good combination of good young players and veteran players like a Fred van Vliet and Imaduka. I mean, he turned things around and with the Celtics before his own personal situation forced him out of there. But from you know, basketball standpoint, he is a really good head coach. And so while I would put the Oklahoma City Thunder as the team that will get to the finals, I think the Rockets are a team that could challenge them at least in the Western Conference finals, or at least be a team that's the out in the second round.
Well, i'ment. Thompson caught my eye as well. He's young, he's only twenty one, but he's highly productive. He's active. I don't he didn't play in college where he comes from.
He played overtime elite in the in the G League. Uh okay, So yeah, that that program he.
Was like the fourth pick over the year before last, right.
Yeah, yeah, I mean that program is is no more. But you know he turned a lot aheads that over time, e leite for all the same reasons. And yeah, he's just been a spunk. I mean he is a guy that lives in the gym. You know, practice ended, you know, Sunday late morning, uh here at u c l A in LA and he was the last one out of the gym just trying to get a lot of shots up, both with the three point shots as well finishing at the room getting free throwers. I mean, he seemed like he's a real student of the game. And you know, even though he's confident saying, hey, he considers himself one of the best players there is. I think a humbleness to him as well as far as just how seriously he takes his craft.
I think you got this Rockets team pegged. They got a nice plan to I've always liked Steven Adams. You got veteran guys, you got Dylan Brooks. I don't know a lot about the roster. Fred van Vliet I think he's on.
The team, followed Albert Sengoon. I mean, don't look now, but people aren't comparing him to the next nikolejokicch And it's not just though, yeah European big man, but he has a lot of good fundamentals and he grew a lot.
He's he's a six to eleven guy who's a walking double double. That says right there, fair Yeah, well, I mean again, these guys, these guys are productive.
They and think about the Spurnie a few years ago when they were, you know, in the lottery. The imo on them is they have a bunch of talented young guys that are just trying to get their numbers and things that completely changed. And some of those players are still on the team. I mean Jalen Green most notably was seen as a very young guy that's talented, but does he early contribute to winning basketball? Well, this season he is season he was, and I think it helps that a you know, there's been more and more time for these young players have developed, but they have an infusion of good veteran players like a Fred van Vliet who came from Toronto. He won a championship there. Yeah, yeah, Steven Adams, great screen center. He doesn't play a lot, but he's a good you know, locker room presence, good practice guy. Dylan Brooks, I know you and I have discussed, you know, some of his antics, especially with Lebron. Yeah, but he is a good player. And so you mixed all that veteran talent with really good young talent. That's what contributes to winning basketball million percent.
A couple other quick things. It looks like Steve Kerr in Golden State is moving some chess pieces around him now. Draymond Green will be coming off the bench. In the past, he's actually handled that role pretty well. What are your thoughts on that? Why did he make that move?
Well, he made the move because it was Jonathan Kaminga started. And you know, the Warriors calculus is that Jonathan Kaminge has got to have even more investment because he's the future. You know, the last few years they've been really intrigued with how he is as a defender, you know, as a front court player. His athleticism is off the charts. There are all have been growing pains with decision making and a shot, but he's been growing every season and so that was the calculus that they got to further lean into that so he can develop. I think the other part is that, you know, Steve Kurt ran it by Draymond, but I think he also came up with this decision thinking that Draymond would be on board with it, because you know, we can we can criticize Draymond all we want, and it's very fair game as far as the technicals and the ejections and where's the line that he should draw so that he can still be a very energtic defender. But one thing I'll give Draymond credit for is that he is a team guy and so he you know, he's he was on record after the game against Minnesota on Fridays, and he is totally on board with it. He cares about winning. He admitted earlier in his career he won't have had the same attitude, but he's very mindful that he's experiencing a full circle moment. Partly Draymond Green got to where he is now is because he got a starting job when David Lee was hurt, and David Lee was very professional when he lost his starting job to him, and I think Draymond's mind is like, hey, I got to pay it forward.
Here on thousand percent. He's a thirteen year Vetnam Draymond. He wants to win. Look, I didn't trust the Warriors at twelve and three. I know they're good, but I think they're that good. Then they lose six to seven. Yeah, and so and by the way, for the I think they lost that game to Minnesota by like twenty So, you know, but it's a long season. They're going to be in the in the conversation, and so final thought, it looks like the NBA will be returning to China next season for some games. I think that's kind of a big development given what took place a few years ago.
Yeah, without a doubt. Obviously we know how you know, there's a geopolitical conflict At twenty nineteen, when Darryl Morey, when he was with the Eastern Rockets, tweeted out, you know, very innocuous tweet just supporting protests in Hong Kong. But that obviously opened up a Pandora's box about you know, a bunch of international incidents in China and how they see Hong Kong and the history of its independence from Great Britain, et cetera. And so you know, obviously the NBA is one of many multinational companies based in the US that has business types of China, so they're trying to be diplomatic here. Now. They did hit a pause on that, and so the fact that they did resume it for starting next season with having two pre preseason games with the Brooklyn Nets and the Phoenix Sun shows that, you know, there has been an improvement of relations. And look, the NBA, they're always going to be open for criticism because of the fact that China has an authoritarian government. But I think what we have to keep in mind or two things. One, there's so many multinational companies in the US to do business with China.
The owner of the next did the preseason game. They're going to play the Adelson family. I believe they own an arena there, don't they.
Yeah. Yeah. And the second thing is, even though it it did seem a little tone deaf, when you know, the NBA was separating itself from Darryl Moury was an innocuous suite of supporting, you know, democrat democratic movement. You know, I will say that the NBA also resisted any pressure from China about you know, putting any disciplinary action on Darryl Moury, whether it was you know, financial or you know, getting rid of them entirely. You know, the NBA made it clear that, you know, the Houston Rockets are their own organization. And obviously Daryl Morey has since gone to Philadelphia. But the NBA, in their mind felt like that they still stood up for their employees by saying, hey, we're not going to allow a different country to impose how we're going to handle personnel.
Well, the irony, ever so quickly is that the Rockets became taboo in China, and the irony is one of the great Rockets of all time was the Chinese national hero Yao Ming.
But that's right, Yeah, James Harden is a very well when he was achieved, and very popular player. I think the other thing, the reason why the NBA got so much criticism is, you know, they were known, especially during the times that we're in, as having athletes that spoke out on social issues and sometimes delved in the political realm, and so they felt like they saw some double standards. No doubt there's double standards. But I think you know the thing that we also have to keep in mind is that it's one thing for players to bring up about issues that they're familiar with in their backyard or you know, have gone through life experiences when it comes to social racial justice issues and much differently than trying to provide expertise or commentary on international affairs involving in another country.
Well, I think maybe next week we can dive into this a little bit. My guess is this is an overture by Adam Silver.
I love.
I think the NBA would love to get that.
To get money making venture.
They want to get that Chinese TV market back.
I think, yeah, it's a business decision.
Sure, Mark, great stuff is always full plate, and I'm sure we'll have another full plate when we talk again. You take care, buddy, enjoy the rest of your week.
I appreciate you.
Thanks Mark. Mark Medina our Fox Sports Radio NBA guru. We have them on every Saturday night at midnight. Clearly you can see that Mark very much has his finger on the pulse. All Right, we have to start to shift toward the NFL. As we are nine and a half hours away from the resumption a week fourteen. I know everybody wants to bash the chiefs, you know, the chiefs that are eleven and one and the Chiefs that have won back to back Super Bowls, and if the playoffs started today would have the home field advantage again and a bye. Maybe there are two sides to the story. Let's take a little look at the Chiefs and how teams in the past. Maybe who started eleven and one physical? But they weren't the Chiefs. So I want to take off for the Chiefs for a minute. I'm Bernie Fraddle or Kimi Lyn from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Tirac dot com studios. Keep it locked right here. You see the show posted right after we get off the air well heavy as the head who wears the crown, and obviously the Kansas City Chiefs trying to become the first team to three peat in the Super Bowl era. Although if you're scoring at home, the Green Bay Packers actually won the NFL Championship in nineteen sixty six, and when Super Bowl One was played on January fifteenth, nineteen sixty seven, they beat the Chiefs thirty five to ten, and then they came back and won Super Bowl two against the Raiders thirty three fourteen. So they did win three in the row, but technicality, the first one was not actually a Super Bowl. It was before the official merger, and so therefore, long and short of it is, the Chiefs are trying to become the first team to win three in a row, and so far, so good. They've won two in a row, and they've started off this season eleven and one, but not without intense scrutiny, and the scrutiny sometimes starts to become laughable because they're not winning in a manner that's particularly dominating. I guess there are a lot of adjectives that describe how the Chiefs have continued to win games for the last twelve weeks. The Chiefs end almost every game with some sort of narrow victory and some sort of perhaps maybe there's a little bit of magic dust. But look, there's an old saying in life. Man be at the right place at the right time, Comma and do something about it. Well, the Chiefs take advantage of their opportunities. You can't penalize them for that. But if you must, you can't be called incorrect to call in the least impressive eleven to one team in NFL history. There have been since nineteen seventy now, there have been forty seven teams that have started eleven and one, But the twenty twenty four Chiefs and their point differential at plus fifty four ranks last now and by the way, it's not even close. It's the second worst team. Going back to the seventy six Raiders, they started eleven and one. Their point differential was plus seventy four. For what it's worth, they went on the stuff the Vikings that year they beat the Vikings thirty two to fourteen, a game played at the Rose Bowl. That was Super Bowl eleven and I'll never forget because Fran targeted. That was the Vikings fourth Super Bowl loss and they've never won one. God great, good, great Viking team with Chuck Foreman. The quarterback was Fran Tarkton, and that following Saturday, after the Vikings lost to the Raiders thirty two to fourteen in Super Bowl eleven, played at the Rose Bowl, Tarkington was the hostess Saturday Night Live and he you might want to get a you might want to get a rim shot ready here by, because Fran Tarketin gets up and his opening monologue is, Hi, I'm Fran Tarkton, quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings. And you know, the Vikings have been to the Super Bowl four times in this decade and we've lost all four and you know what, we're going back next year and we're gonna lose again. Nicely done, Mark, nicely done. That's true, true story. But you can call the Raiders lucky. I don't think it's all luck. If you look at each team's average winning margin this season and games that they won, the Chiefs five point seven points rankhead of only the Browns, Raiders, and Colts. Yet Volse three have the same number of combined wins. Eleven is Kansas City. So look at the end of the year. They don't ask Coyle just how many. I know a lot of times they look like they're playing with their food. They got to be mentally tired. I mean, this is amazing what they're doing in this day and age when the league is designed to bring parody. But I want to say this, I don't think it's all luck. The Chiefs are one of just seven teams, along with the Lions, Bills, Eagles, Packers, Vikings, and Steelers, to rank top eleven in both offensive and defensive scoring, and their DVA is still above average on both sides of the ball. Mahomes is still better than you think he is fourth and EPA, And despite questions sometimes about the Chiefs defense, didn't get any questions from me. They rank six in yards allowed per play. They also hold the second best Super Bowl odds to win it all again. So would you ask yourself, what city you live in, what team you root for? Would you trade places with the Chiefs? I bet you would. Now, there's only one or two ways this thing's gonna end up. Could they fizzle? They could? The Chiefs could fizzle. Remember the twenty twenty two Vikings. They were ten and two at this point nine eleven and one. Remember the Eagles last year they were ten and two, not eleven and one, But they shared very similar slim margins of victory over the September, October, November, and into December games before their luck kind of ran out. The Vikings lost three of their final seven games Philly. Meanwhile, last year went one on six and both those squads lost in the wild card round. But remember they didn't have well, actually, the Vikings lost at home to Daniel Jones, but that's not the point. They would didn't have Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid and Travis Kelsey in that DNA. Man, there's something about that red helmet. Something about that red helmet and Andy Reid. You know, Casey Stangle, the Yankees were dominant in the fifties and went like eight World Series. Casey Stangle said, Dude, teams can't beat the Yankees because they get stuck staring at the pinstripes. Well, I actually think teams are freaked out about the Chiefs too. I really mean that. I know it's the National Football League, but you get to those high leverage points in the game where the heat gets hot, it's hard to breathe, and the Chiefs seem to make all the plays and their opponents don't necessarily do that, so they could fizzle. They could fizzle. Who catches them and ain't gonna be Baltimore forget it. I know they got missed October Lamar Jackson. There's a reason they're eight and five. Ain't going to happen. Buffalo could, but again when Buffalo go. Josh Allen is like Penn stateon James Franklin regular season Josh Allen, yes, sir, get him in the postseason. I think he's owned three against the Chiefs. So until they do it, until they do it, so will either fizzle, which I'm not banking on. I think the Chiefs are really good, or they repeat. Now entering seven week seventeen. Last year, remember the Chiefs were only ninth in Power rankings. After a one score loss to the Raiders. The record was nine and six. Doubt had very much crept in, but then you saw Mahomes again win the Super Bowl thanks to a defense that stepped up a defense seventh and dbaa but cornerback. But look, I think it's a fool's errin betting against the Chiefs, even though they don't cover every week, but until if somebody knocks them off, and so until somebody knocks off the champ I still think they can. They can threepeat. Can they beat the Lines on a neutral, Yes they can. Can they beat the Eagles on a neutral? Yes they can. Who in the AFC is gonna catch him? I don't think it's Baltimore. It could be Buffalo. I don't think it's anybody coming out of the West. The styles. I look, just let's let it play out. So what happens. Listen, The likelihood is just land somewhere in the middle, all right. For their next five games are teams that have winning records, which means some of those one score games will could start to go the other way. But come playoff time, I would be very dubious about betting against Patrick Mahomes, who's eight to zero in one score postseason games. Okay, you may think they're dancing whistling through the graveyard. All they do is win, win, win, and you may not like how they do it, but they do it, and so again, haters, you want to beat him. That's just the way it is. Football fans, be sure to tune into Fox Sports Radio every Sunday morning. They'll have you covered three hours before kickoff. Every Sunday morning. Listen to Countdown to Kickoff presented by bet MGM right here on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. Come on up top of the hour. We're gonna dive heavily into the NFL. We're gonna get into, as we do every week, who's trending up, who's trending down. We're gonna dive into, as we do every Saturday, the current NFL playoff picture of the standings. If the season in the today, who where the you know, where the the seedings would be, Who would have to travel? Who would have a buye it says certainly we're talking about and will and we will absolutely start to dive into the matchups on the matchups, talk about some of the winners and losers from week thirteen, because that matters. We always look back before we look forward, because the NFL is very much a week to week league. But I want to take a quick hiatus. We do this every year. You know, I've always said, one of the three best things that can happen to you is get fired by George Steinbrenner. He'll pay you and your family for the rest of your life. I'll be hired by the Ford family in Detroit. The years I covered the team head coach GM whatever what Matt Million made what fifty million dollars there and they were fifty games under five hundred. The Fords were I thought, impeccable employers. They didn't pressure their people. They gave them the freedom to the autonomy to run their business. And you didn't even have to produce results. Third thing, you know, you lose the war in the United States, they'll take care of it for the next tenth centuries. But there's another one, another one if you're a fired college football coach. Oh yeah, oh yeah, back up. The bringstruck last year was really crazy because we had Jim Fish Jimbo. But this year's no slots either. We'll give you a quick roll call. As of last Monday afternoon, fifteen FBS college coaches have been fired during the season or since it ended. Saturday schools owing. These gentlemen, oh nothing about forty million dollars. Now, it wasn't like last year where it was one hundred and eighteen million dollars. That was the record, but seventy six million of that was paid to Jimbo Fisher. Nobody's at silly again. But I run some of these numbers by. You tell me you wouldn't like a few of those shekels in your back pocket. I'm Bernie Fraddle. We're coming to line from Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio, Tirack dot com studios. Keep it locked right here. You're listening to the Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio, Fire Rebag and The Bernie Fraddle Show, Fox Sports Radio Comedy Live forthe Tyraq dot com studios here in Las Vegas. Still so much to get to. We're not even halfway home yet, and we're an hour and eight minutes away from the dance Sensation sweep the nation. What kind of brand new food you followed by? But my name? Okay? It happens every year college football coaches get fired, but in this day and age, yeah, baby, you you get fired and you back up the brink stuck. Starting with West Virginia's coach Neil Brown, who tops the list, got nine point eight million to go away produced. Ryan Walters got nine point three million. Florida Atlantic's Tom Herman boy is he sunk whoo? Former Texas coach, former Houston coach fired from Florida Atlantic four point two million. Mac Brown well even, they paid him two point eight million to city cyon East Carolina is Mike Houston. This is He's Carolina two point eight million. Don Brown, the erstwhile Michigan defensive coordinator who was always massively overrated massively got a million point four to leave UMass Biff Pogi also had Michigan ties. His son was a full back at Michigan. Got let go of Charlotte. They paid him one point three million. Florida International. Mikes mcintie I got a million one even Rice somebody Mike Bloomgren nine hundred thousand dollars Southern Miss Wave Goodbye to Will Hall. He got eight hundred and ninety two thousand Kenisas State, Brian Bohannon six hundred and five thousand to go away Ball States, Mike new five hundred and fifty thousand to say don't let the door hit you and it took us on the way out, and Appalachian States Sean Clark five hundred thousand. Don't let the door hit you with the good Lord splitcher. These figures come from Front Office Sports Research and the Salary Tracker and other various reports and estimates. And look, there's also sometimes offset language, which means the schools don't know the full amount if the coach is getting another job somewhere else. But the truth of the matter is and no, probably more. But this is what it works, man, it doesn't you know. You structure that contract so if they say we don't watch it anymore, you're gonna pay me to go away. And boy do they get paid starting with the ALTI t'm Jimbo Fisher seventy six manion. By the way, Ryan Day's numbers thirty seven million. I don't think he's going anywhere, but if he's one and done, you never know. Keep it locks. The Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio. Well that's right, you heard the man. Bernie Fraddle Show keeps rolling right along. My name is Bernie Frowner. We are comedy live the tyrat dot Com studios here in Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio tyrack dot Com. We'll help you get there. That MAT's selection fast free shipping, free road ASID protection, and over ten thousand recommend it installers tyrack dot com the way tire buying should be. Well, I'm glad it doesn't. But what if the NFL season ended today? What would the playoff picture look like? Were the standings matchups AFC you already know the Chiefs eleven and one to the number one seed, followed by the bill Steelers, Texans, Chargers, Ravens, and Broncos. They'd all be in the tournament now, hanging on for dear life. But it's getting dimmer. The Colts and Dolphins both already have seven losses, so they're two full games behind Denver in the lost column. They're running out of time. The Bengals are four and eight. I think you could stick a four of them. And that's not even bother talking about the Browns, Jets, Titans or Patriots you get the picture, or the Raiders. The NFC you already know, Lions not the first twelve win team in the National Football League to beat Green Bay thirty four to thirty one on Thursday night, They'll have they would have the bye as it stands right now, but hey, don't look back. Somebody could be gaining and by the way, the Lions got Buffalo on deck next week. The Eagles are trending. They're ten and two. They're the number two seed, followed by this. It's a big drop off from there, big drop off. The Seahawks seven and five. I don't know if they'll hold on it win that division. They might the West they get Arizona Sunday. The Falcons at six and six. They're stinky. They're six and six, but they're the whole AFC South. What is with that division? You know, the Vikings ten and two. They'd have a lower seed both the Seahawks and Falcons because they're not leading their division. The Lions are the Pack nine and four of the Commandos eight and five, hanging on for dear life. The the Bucks, Cardinals at the Rams all have six losses, which is one loss back from Washington in the lost column, and they've they've already had their buy so they they've played one more game. I think, you know, the Niners at five and seven, the Cowboys at five and seven mathematically, but come on, you know, I don't. I don't like their chances needed to you, So these would be the pairings. The AFC the Chiefs as it stands right now, they would they would get to sit the first one out, they'd have a buy and the Chargers at the fifth seed, would visit the would visit Houston and play the Texans. The Ravens as the sixth seed currently, and I wish people would stop force feeding us on how great this team is. They're good, and they're they're pole rated high as they should be. But when it matters, show me, don't tell me, show me. They would have actually have to visit Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh's currently the number three seed. Can imagine the Ravens being won and done this year. It could have happened, could happen. The Bills are the number two seed, David Host, those pecky, pesky Denver Broncos who are not bad, not bad. Over in the NFC, the number five seed Vikings would visit Atlanta as the number four seed, even though the Vikings have better record. The Packers would be the number six seed. They would visit the number three seed Seahawks again even though the Packers have a better record, and give it up to the Washington Commanders. Dan Quinn and you know their stud quarterback they're the seventh seed. They'd have to go to Philadelphia, which would be not a lot of fun. But at least they're in the at least they're in the dance. So that's where things stand right now. You know, this season has really sort of been a season of comeback stories. I know that Russell Wilson stock was at an all time low in the NFL. He had back to back subpar seasons, but actually he threw twenty six touchdown passes in twenty twenty three against eight picks. But he you know, he was just not Sean Payton's guy. It wasn't gonna happen. But I know I told you this back in like in camp and in week three or four. He's a much better passer than Justin Fields, and Mike Tomlin took a chance on him, and he's been repaid. You know, Russell Wilson's actually been to a super Bowl and won a Super Bowl, been to two of them, and I know he's nowhere near that player now, but he's got something left in the cookie yard. He understands how to play the position. And you cannot tell me the Steelers have not benefited from upgrading from Justin fields, he's okay to to Russell Wilson. And look, if you would have told me back last summer that in Week thirteen Wilson would throw for four hundred yards and he'd beat Joe Burrow and the Steelers would be nine and three, I would say, I can see that happening, But none of you would have because you all hate the guy and so your personal feelings override your objective truce. The guy's a good quarterback, Okay. I know he's a little weird out there and all that, and people resent him and they're not really sure how to take them sometimes, but you know, hey, when they snap the ball and the ball's in the air and then you know the bullets flying, it's real. He's not a bad guy. And this is the thinnest position in all of sports. I want to give a tip of the cap to second year quarterbacks Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson because they're trending up. I never gave up on Bryce Young. I want to see a guy get twenty eight starts before he's got too many pluses in my view. And you know, once the group think Echo Chambers starts running their mouth, it's over. They buried the guy, not me. No, I'm not you know, I'm not saying he's ready for Canton. I think he can play the position. I think he can be more than serviceable. I want to see how he does Sunday against Philadelphia. I'm not as nearly as high and Anthony Richardson, but I respect the man because he does mean business. And again, he's one of these guys whose default mechanisms to run. But he's made enough plays recently. And if you're our bench, unceremoniously in the anti Richardson's case, he has to be taken out of a game and then you come back and you compete, you have my respect, okay, And those guys are doing that, and I know. And by the way, it's funny because people also like to bash Cliff Kingsbury, you know, just because uh and I know a lot of people snickered last year when reports were put forth that the Raiders might be hiring Cliff Kingsbury as their offensive coordinator. Now they didn't do that.
And guess what.
Now those same people are criticizing the Raiders that they didn't get Kingsbury. And Kingsbury joins the Commanders and you can't tell me to that that he has not helped Jayden Daniels and right on cue, somebody said, well, yeah, well, we're heading into December and that's when all the Cliff Kingsbury offenses go off a cliff and technically they may be right. And what does Washington do. They've go out and have one of their best offensive performances.
Of the year.
So, all of a sudden, again talking about a year of comeback feel good stories, Kingsbury went from a failed Arizona Cardinals head coach to possibly landing another head coaching gig in a two year span. I'm told the Bears might be interested in him next year. We will see. I'm hopeful there's a comeback story that might be in the cards for Justin Tucker, who arguably the greatest kicker all the time in the NFL. But he's in the midst of the worst campaign he's ever had. He's got a lot of work to do to change the tide. And believe me, Baltimore needs him. And you know, he cost the Ravens last Sunday and I don't know that they were going to beat Philadelphia anyway, but he missed three more kicks. It happens. Man, it happens. Maybe he's the football version of Ian Baker Finch. Look it up, right, the Eagles are very much looking the part, all right. Not only did they pummel the Ravens last week, they really started to expose a lot of the Ravens weaknesses, all right. And the Bills two weeks ago they beat the Chiefs, then they had a bye week, and then they have a snow game that looked like a movie set against the once vaunted San Francisco forty nine ers. And where am I going with this? And right now? Okay, the two teams playing the bets that are looking like the most complete are the Eagles and Bills. Now, I guess I'll also throw the Lions in that category. They survived Thanksgiving from Chicago, and then they came out and they beat Green Bay. And you know, at the end of the year, they don't ask college just how many the lines are? Twelve and one?
Right?
And I'm not necessarily saying the Eagles are better than the Lions, but I absolutely believe you if you don't think the Eagles are a legitimate threat to knock off the Lions. And what could be a collision course, those two teams could find each other on the same field in January, and at this point it would be played in Detroit. But it's not a lot that that happens, right, And I'm glad that the Eagles and the Lions don't play each other between now and the end of the season, because they meet in the postseason, maybe even the NFC title Game for the right to go to the Super Bowl. Don't man, that would be exciting, That would really be exciting. The Eagles have a defensive unit that can at least perhaps challenge the Lions offense. I think on offense, the Lions have way more weapons than the Eagles do. But you know, you know Phillies defense, you know, headed by Vic Fangio, They're they're proving very capable. Just that's Lamar Jackson. They couldn't do a lot against Philly's defense last week. The Bills, I know, they're they're never gonna outlive you know, the damoclets that hangs over their shoulder. But they're all their past postseason uh disappointments, going to four Super Bowls, losing them all, having just an inability to get through Kansas City and the reason you will never see me jump ship on Kansas City. Just from a practical standpoint is because I just feel like they're going through the motions right now and doing what they have to do. But when January rolls around, they're gonna flex. They're gonna flex now on paper and metrically, they're their struggles are slightly worse than they were last season. But remember they were nine to six at Christmas Day last year. Uh, they're still eleven and one, and I expect them to beat the Chargers someday. And yeah, you could. You could call out the Raiders. I checked that, you can call out the Chiefs and said, we have barely beat the It barely beat Carolina. It's just a bad omen. No, it's not. They won those games. Okay, they won those games. And so the bottom line is, you know, there are a lot of interesting stories brewing again, the Cliff Kingsbury thing something to watch. Russell Wilson, he wants a second Super Bowl ring clearly what you want to continue to follow the progress of Anthony Richardson and Bryce Young. Both these guys were picked in the top four in the twenty twenty three draft, both got benched. Both are having comebacks and second opportunities, and so far they seem to be making the most out of all those opportunities. So it's a fun it's a fun season, and by the way, huge props. I don't think, with all due respect, I don't think the Chargers is exactly miss Tom to Let's go and Brandon Staley, because anybody noticed that the draft, just from this past April, he's already, you know, this very first draft class for their GM. Joe Ortiz for the Chargers is already paying major dividends their second round to the receiver Lab McConkey. He's basically now justin Herbert's best target in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago. Nine catches one hundred and seventeen yards. And I get it, Yes, they could have elak neighbors, but Joe Alt, who was the number five pick overall last April, is basically now going to be a cornerstone for the Chargers at right tackle, probably for the next decade. So you get a receiver who's got the kind of production I just said, and you got a cornerstone offensive lineman. You can't beat that. Right, They have another cornerback starting a rookie that was just drafted treup Hill. They didn't get him down the fifth round. He had one of the pick sixes against Kirk Cousins in the third quarter last week, returned it for sixty yards. Another rookie corner Cam Hart, also drafted in the fifth round. A cornerback for the Chargers, making plays right and left. And he's a big dude, man. He's you know, six three, two fifteen. And if you want to see the Chargers twenty twenty four draft class on display, hey watch this Sunday night football game against the Chiefs now As you know, there are you know what, for every winner, there's a loser, And that's just kind of like, you know, trite phraseology. But I want to talk about some of the folks who are not necessarily having fun in the National Football League this year, and we'll talk about that coming up. I'm Bernie Freddle. We are Company Lion from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio tarret dot Com Studios. Keep it locked right here. You are listening to the Bernie Fradle Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right back at the Bernie Fraddle Show, Fox Sports Radio Company, live from the tarret dot Com studios here in a Lat Vegas, thirty eight minutes away from the Dan Sensation sweep of the nation. What kind of brand new fool are you? Followed by what my name? I got a doozy tonight from Boston. Some individual who wanted to see Tom Brady play so badly when he came back with the Tampa Bay Bucks. She's now going to be spending thirty months in jail. We'll get to that brand new fool, followed by what my name here in about thirty eight minutes. The Falcons brand new fools for breaking the bank for Kirk Cousins and then drafting Michael Pennix and they don't even use them. Look, the Falcons. The good news is the last left.
You know.
The Falcons are defense. They had their best performance of the year. Five sacks, didn't allow an offensive touchdown. But Cousins and his four interceptions that cost the Falcons her third straight game. Who the hell does he think he is? Jameis Winston. By the way, Cousins is thirty six years old now looking very much thirty six. Maybe hasn't even thrown a touchdown pass since November three. But you waste a first dround and I'd say waste because I covered the Lions for ten years and I covered ten drafts. You want that first round pick to plug in as a starter year one and say, this guy's going to be a starter for five years minimum. Okay, you got two quarterbacks on the roster. One. I don't think he can play anymore. He's been poor for a while and he's gonna be Cousins is going to be severely tested in Minnesota Sunday. The Vikings are obviously a team who know him well, and he's gonna face one of the most aggressive defenses in the league. One of the issues with Cousins is funny because defensicksaid, he can't throw a pass anymore. He can't move anymore. Cousins has the mobility of an upright vacuum cleaner now, so we can't escape pressure. That's a problem because then he goes into this gunslinger mentality. He starts throwing the ball to the other team. Falcons were really hoping Cousins could uplift them this year. He's throwing thirteen picks and they're you know, they're gonna have to hand the keys to Michael Pennis. At some point. You drafted the guy eighth overall, what'd you do that for? Why? Now I get it. The Falcons are six and six. Technically they leave the division and after the Vikings they get to play their Raiders, Giants, Commandos, and Panthers. So you know what, do you march panics in there and think he can help you? Or do you what do you do? I don't care what they do. I'm just pointing out that I think Cousins is a shot fighter. Right now, we'll see if he can make a layer out of me in Minnesota later on this afternoon. I would not bank on it. I feel bad for Christian McCaffrey right snow. Games are fun, especially if you're getting paid. It's all fun of games and until somebody loses an eye or you lose your starting running back. Kyle Shanahan found out Sunday night after getting their butt kicked in Buffalo confirmed that McCaffrey has a PCL injury. He'll be probably shut down for the rest of the year. The Niners are five and seven. Their playoff odds dropped to ten percent. They do get the Stinky Bears Sunday, but boy, the odds for the Niners to get to the playoffs. They lose thirty five to ten. Hey, Mama said there'd be years like this, right Brandon I who gets paid goes off a Cliff mac Jones or people can't wait to throw a brock Purty under the bus. There's another guy, Well, he's no good anymore. Didn't that his weapons? Well give me a quarterback out there, who does you know go to the Super Bowl without any weapons? Come on, please? You know I love Joe Montana also had John Rice, Jerry Taylor, Roger Craig, and one of the best defenses in Bill Walsh. Okay, if you lost all those guys, you might not have been Joe Montana. So the brock Purty haters, you're starting to get on my nerves a little bit. You've always been on my nerves actually, But that's not good for Christian McCaffrey. The Chargers. Look, they're eight and four, or they beat the Falcons last week seventeen to thirteen. Their defense is really stepping up under Jesse Mener, who also was the architect of that defense at Michigan. But I think if you're a Chargers fan, you should be worried, very worried losing. JK. Dobbins he's on IR with an mcl sprain. This is a team built to run the ball, build around the run without JK. Dobbins or not the same. And now Lab Maconkey's banged up. And I don't know if the Chargers have a good enough defense to go on the road in weather in the playoffs, so they may start to trend down. Let's see how they do against Kansas City Sunday night. I expect Kandas City to win that game and probably cover the spread. We'll see the Jaguars two and ten. You know what happened last week. Trevor Lawrence took a pretty brutal late hit by a ziz lsheer who's ejected and suspended for three games. And I think they're shutting Trevor Lawrencetown for the year. And they're two and ten. Mac Jones came off the bench, not bad, twenty thirty two for two thirty five, two touchdowns. They lost to Houston twenty three to twenty. And it's my belief that the Jacksonville Jaggs plus four on someday. I don't know if you get four anymore. Tennessee, Tennessee, they can't find their butt with both hands there laying points. You dressed them up as a favorite. They're onwing five and against the spread, and in the last five games at home this year and they were all as a dog. Now you dress them up as a favorite. I don't know, and I don't know what the hell happened to the Bengals defense. My god, they're allowing a very good year by Joel Burrow, who's played it honestly, has played an elite level every year. He can't help them win. And statistically Burrow might be well, certainly a top three quarterback, maybe the NFL's best quarterback this season. And when you score thirty points in a game four times and lose all four games, that's gonna make you have a bad day, right, Bengals are four and eight, But they're four and eight because their defense has gone off a cliff. What the hell happened? I don't know. I love their defensive coordinator, lou Anarrumo. They didn't want to sign Jesse Bates, who's go off to Atlanta, big time playmaker. Defense goes off a cliff, So you know the Kirk Cousins by the way, by the way, because I've really sung the praises of Kyler Murray and Jonathan Gannon all year. Jonathan Gannon is the new coach in Arizona. But the Cardinals have at a wall in the past couple of weeks and they're now six and six, and their offense seems to be you know, somebody put a governor on their offense. And if you've got Kyler Murray's your starting quarterback, I think you got to let them cook, right, Russ isn't the only one who can cook. I've always liked Kyler Murray. He seems healthy this year. He's a far more efficient game manager than people give them credit for. But he remembers he's the number one overall pick back in twenty twenty nineteen. But it feels like they've put they've put some rains on him, and I think he has too much athletic ability, too much town, too much playmaking ability, and they're paying him a fortune just to take the safe throws and and and be conservative. I think it's I think it's hurting Arizona. And they could have beaten the Vikings last week they lost twenty three twenty two. Although you know, I'm not behind the four walls there, so I don't want to. I don't want to be that guy. They have an offensive coordinator named Drew pettsing in Arizona. He's a very bright guy, and I think he's not the type of guy that wants his quarterback to be a playground quarterback. And in that playground quarterback style, he has never really gotten the Cardinals anywhere near the Promised Land. And you know last week Kyler Murray through a bad interception when all Arizona needed to do is just get in field goal range to beat Minnesota, and they were, they were close to doing it. But look, they're still alive. The Seahawks are seven and five if the coincidentally is the Seahawks player z on a Sunday and the Zona six and six, So the Zona wins I think to be tied, right, But look, you got a first year coach and Jonathan Gannon and maybe there's still adjusting to some things right. Finally, these guys are top of the dork list, Caleb Williams and Matt Eberflus. If you followed the Bears this week, it wasn't just Thanksgiving. Grieber flu showed in the final minutes that he might not be capable of operating at a high level when the game is on the line. There were multiple opportunities, multiple situations, incidents in twenty twenty four where the Bears got into the final minutes of close games and Eberflus seemed to be again looking like the Mike McCarthy guy who's wandering around the mall parking lot, can't see where he parked his car. The Bears they lost those games of the Commanders and Green Bay Packers. One was because of a walk off Hail Mary, which is unforgivable that seemed to start the street and then a block field goal. Those were a couple of brutal losses, but that was a picnic compared to the final minute meltdown against the Lions on Thanksgiving Day. And you can't exactly say that Eberflus protected his quarterback. He didn't use his final time out. The clock kept ticking, ticking, ticket, you're waiting, Will somebody make a decision? What are you doing here?
Right?
And then ibra Flus he couldn't take the time out back to Chicago. He couldn't even take his job back to Chicago, and ibra Flues it crossed his job that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Now everybody wants to call them. Maybe not everybody anymore, but they wanted to. Certainly want to call Caleb Williams a franchise quarterback. He's nowhere near that yet. Yeah, and I get he's a rookie. He's a rookie, but put him next to Jayden Daniels are bow Knicks. I don't think Daniels or bow Knicks would have taken a killer sack. Wasted a bunch of time with the game on the line, tick tick tick, then defending themselves at the end of the game. Williams Kayla Williams has shown flashes and you know, he's kept his wits about him somewhat during the six game losing streak. Maybe he'll get better, maybe he won't. I don't know, but I don't think they're having a lot of fun in the twenty twenty four version of the NFL. You know who is the Eagles. They haven't lost the game since September. They beat Baltimore last week twenty four to nineteen, the first time the Philadelphia Eagles ever won in Baltimore. Give it up to Vic Fangio. He has a way of marching on elite defense. He's did it for Jim Harbaugh back in twenty twelve when they lost to the aforementioned Ravens. But this seemed to fly under the radar. Vic Fangio and the defense he put on the field for Philadelphia containing Lamar Jackson big time. Even Cooper dejan had a nice tackle on Derrick Henry that made the rounds. And Saquon Barkley, what a git. Really really been a clutch season for him. I think he should be mentioned among MVP candidates. He now leads Saquon Barkley, now leads Derrick Henry in yards from scrimmage by over two hundred yards on the season. You know, very quietly, there was a big deal about this. In twenty twenty two. The Vikings are ten and two and they find ways to win close games as well. They pulled one out a minute remaining last week. Aaron Jones touchdown, he caught a touchdown pass gave the Vikings a twenty three to twenty two league and that was the first lead of the entire game. And that's where the score ended. And you know, Jones had fumbled earlier in the game and Sam Darnell had kind of a resilient fourth quarter seven to twelve for a buck fifteen in a touchdown. This bodes well for the Vikings. You know, do I think the Lions are the leaders of the pack to go to the Super Bowl. Yeah, but the Vikings are one of only three teams I think they can beat him the NFC, the Vikings, the Packers and the Eagles. And I'm not saying they will, but I'm just saying I think they could. I really think those cluster injuries. I mean, Kayleb Williams had a good second half against the Lions, not because he figured out how to play, but the pass rush wasn't getting home. And the Packers put up thirty one the other night as well, so we'll see. The Lions can very much get to the super Bowl. But by no means is it a lock. No means give it up to the Colts. I was critical. They're now six and seven. Anthony Richardson doesn't really put up good numbers. He was twelve to twenty four for one hundred nine yards, threw a couple picks against the Patch last week. But what it mattered most at the end, he led another game deciding touchdown drive. And then you gotta love what Shane Steikin did. Made the guts, he call to go for a two pointer. He went for the win, and Anthony Richardson it was pure effort, it was pure desire, willed his way into the end zone and the Colt sealed the victory. That is a feel good victory, one that you can build on. And I got to believe the Colts are are very enthusiastic at least you know about the way they compete and the fact that they're not dead for a playoff spot. They do have a bye this week. However, you know they went to Drake Main New England a few weeks ago and he continues to impress in my opinion, twenty four or thirty last week, two hundred and thirty eight yards, threw a touchdown, he did throw a one pick, wasn't his fault, and after the Richardson lunge, you know, there were still twelve seconds left in the game and Drake may damn near brought him back. Joey Sly, I mean they got in position. Joey Sly attempted a sixty eight yard field goal as time ran out and damn near almost made the thing. I want to give props again one more time to Bryce Young. Yes, the Panthers. They lost to twenty six twenty three overtime game to the Bucks last week, but as Baker Mayfield put it, plug your ears ear muffs, Young quote played his balls off.
He did.
Bryce Young was great. He's only four nineteen years the starter, but he's really showing improvement. Had one hundred and eighty six yards passing in the first half, through for almost three hundred second most of his career, and at a great catch by Adam Thielen. I liked the way I like Bryce Young. I liked him at Modern Day, I liked him at Alabama, he went to a more bun franchise. Dave Canalis comes over as our head coach. Remember Dave Canalis is a quarterback. Whisperer just asked Baker Mayfield and the effect he had on Baker Mayfield last year in Tampa Bay prior to that with Russell Wilson in Seattle. There's reasona believe Bryce Young is going to be Okay, let it play itself out. I want to see what he looks like after twenty eight starts and you know not when he's part of a circus act. Steelers N one than three. You always knew they could play defense, but did you know they could put up forty four points in a game? Yep. They beat Cincinnati last week forty four to thirty eight, four hundred and fourteen yards of offense, three touchdowns from Russell Wilson. They're now averaging three hundred and ninety yards per game and twenty nine points a game since Russell Wilson took over. All due respect to Justin Fields is not a major league quarterback. He's a world class athlete. He's not a major league quarterback. His default mechanism is to run. He's not great on pre snap reeds, processing coverages. Look, the position a quarterback is as demanding as any position in the world. You have to combine intellectual ability, You've got to have physical attributes. You've got to be able to evade large defenders adapt in an instant. It's a situation where you know, you make your post snap reeds, you make your pre snap reeds to see if they match up. You have less than two seconds to execute, which is Justin Field's biggest problem. It takes too long to get rid of the ball. It takes too long to make his reads. He's not on time, he's not on target. He takes off and runs. He left plays all around the field and give Mike Tomlin a first ballot Hall of Fame coach top credit for seeing what the offense could be with a guy who could actually pass. I get it. If you need to move your feet to keep a play alive, take note. I don't even think Justin Fields does that. He's willy nilly. If defense is in man to man, that's a green light to run north and south south. Since DB's are typically facing away from you, except for the safety, it's probably thirty yards away. But if the defense is in zone, roll latterly. Give your receivers a chance to sign a just the routes get open, create a positive play. The truth of the matter is it's between the ears. It's all about recognition and reaction. How quickly can you recognize the defender's responsibilities, how quickly can you exploit it. It's a visual processing skill. Not everybody has it. As a matter of fact, very few quarterbacks have it. That is why Justin Fields has had such I think you know it's a difficulty in maintaining consistency. But Russell Wilson steps in, and you see the numbers are just putting up three hundred nine yards a game, twenty nine points a game. We had. You know, somebody tweet at me, you know he was Jeff. He tweets in full disclosure. I'm a diehard Steelers fan. I was cold on Wilson when he first drapped, but no, I've warmed to him. I'd love to see him be just getting started. I definitely want under the ring, but I'm a realistic fan. Stranger things have happened. Yeah, there real questions going to be as it stands right now. Who can stroll into Kansas City and win? Could Pittsburgh? Yeah it's not a zero, it's not a zero. Pittsburgh could do it. They could do it. They wouldn't do it. Justin fields though. I want to give Jade and Daniels some props as well. He's been a big reason why the Commanders are zero and five, or checked that eight and five. They end their three game losing streak last week in very dominant fashion. They put up forty two points against the Titans, who are now he favorite this week. Yeah, three and nine I guess that the run game got going, which helped Daniels. But he carried the ball six times forty five rushing yards. But he also operates nights from the pocket, and you know, he's a type of guy who is making pretty damn good decisions with the football and does what he needs to do. Finally, Leonard Williams not only has Seattle and now seven and five one to three straight, but you talk about a defensive tackle that's playing in a Hall of Fame level over the past two games. Now he's thirty years old, he's been in league a while. Last two games, five sacks, six quarterback hurries, blocked an extra point, and the longest pick six by a defensive lineman in NFL history. Plus he had a crucial third down sack last week which helped the Seahawks beat his former two team, the New York Jets. And this dude weighs three hundred pounds and he's helped you know, Seattle on their special teams. Look give it up. So these are the guys that are having fun, not having so much fun in the National Football League so far this year. And again there's that you know, there's still a long way to go in the season. There really is. They'll always remember what you did in December. But you know, as far as difference makers, people trending up, people trending down, we'd like to cover this every week. Come back stories. There really are a lot of really cool storylines this year. I want to take a quick jump to baseball. Are they at some kind of gimmick again? It's possible. We'll talk about it coming up. I'm Bernie Frattle. We are comedy line from the Las Vegas Foxforts Radio Tireck dot com studios. Keep it locked. You're listening to the Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right, We're back on the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio, coming from the Tarac dot com studios here in Las Vegas, just eleven minutes away from the dance sensation sweep in the nation. What kind of brand new fool are you? Followed by what my name? Well, on the heels of the pitch clock and the ghost runner and some of the other things. Rob manfriend's probably feeling himself a little bit, and now he's got this other new fangle thought he marched out the owner's meetings. But by the way, just to set the record straight. We're nowhere near getting this implemented. But it's something he's calling a golden at bat. What is it? Well, Manfred's idea is basic, once per game, once a manager can choose to sit down whoever's on deck and instead send any batter that he would choose to the plate. Now, because this is in the conversation only stage, we're really not one hundred percent clear how the idea or the proposal will exactly work, and there are a few wrinkles right now. They might have an option where the only team that is trailing in the ninth inn he can use a golden bat where, or maybe teams can only use it the seventhing in or later. It's also not really been decided whether or not there be any restrictions on who you can summon. For instance, let's say let's say Shoho Tani's up and he hits a triple? Can he can he come back and bat again? And what do you do? Who runs it third base for him? So these are questions that I'll have to be answered if this proposal starts to go up the flagpole and gain steam. So when would this rule be introduced? Well, is it going to happen. There's absolutely no guarantee this is ever going to happen. It's very much in its embryonic stage in terms of discussions, and it's a concept right now that Manfred has put out there. But here's one thing though, that is real. It's very likely that the minor leagues are going to start testing this because they've been talking about something similar for a couple of years, and I would be I would expect that the minor leagues will implement this in a test manner somehow, just like they've been doing robal umpires for the last three years. There's also talk that they would experiment with this concept during the Major League Baseball All Star Game. It's this is justin as a possible testing ground for the rule, right. Manfred's quote was quote, most of the changes we have discussed involved producing matchups in the context of an exhibition game that the fans want to see the most, you know, more in terms of substitution and whatnot. I'm receptive of those ideas in the context of an exhibition game. He's referring to the Major League Baseball All Star Game. Remember the time is long gone now where the winner gets the home field advantage of the America to the National League. I don't think they've done that since twenty eighteen. So he isn't speaking specifically about the gold in a bat or the All Star Game. You know what the hell he's talking about, right. I don't dislike Manfred sometimes he's a very in artful communicator. Right, And not for nothing, believe it or not. Ten years ago, this was even Manfred's idea. It was a president for the Miami Marlins named Dave Samson and formally threw it out there, ran up the flagpole, and he was part of the competition committee decked ten years ago and the view was, look, you guys are ruining the sanctity of the game, all right. The beauty of it is you you have these unsung heroes like Brian Doyle in the nineteen seventy eight World Series, it was his turn to come up. The reason you have that in baseball is because everybody gets to bat. But in football, not everybody's going to get the ball in crunch time. And in basketball and not everybody's gonna get the ball in crunch time. You get the picture. When in baseball everybody has to bat, all right, and I think it would change the game. I don't really care for it. I think it's a gimmick. You'd have to put I think very strict limitations on how teams could use it, when teams could use it. I think it fundamentally changes the game, all right. It might even boost players stats if you what if you did this every night for your best hitter, Mike, if you did it every night, you might get an extra one hundred and fifty eight bats a year. Yeah, that might change the record book as well. And here's the one thing you got to ask, you know, how are some of the former players reacting to this, some of the current players reacting, of some of the managers, it's almost mostly negative. Kevin Yuklis once said, not all change is great, all right, it's a roller coaster ride in baseball. You have the unexpected when everybody plays as opposed to these manufactured things. Plus you're baseardizing the game. So I think it's a gimmick. I don't think it's gonna happen anytime soon. And let's face it be cute to talk about for some people, but the gold in the bat is not going to be here anytime soon, you know. What is brand new fooling? What my name? Keep it locked? You're listening to the Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio. Well that's rich. You heard the man the Bernie Fraddle Show. Just Keiefs rolling right along. My name is Bernie Fraddle. We are coming to life from tyraq dot com studios here in Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio tyrack dot com. We'll help you get there. Not matched selection, fast free shipping for your roodaser protection and over ten thousand recommend it installers tyrat dot com. The way tire buying should be. Well, we've come to that time in the show, that juncture in the week. You know you love it. You can't leave without it. You see because here on the Bernie Frattle Show, our staff, good group, well as Jogiberia once said, you can observe a lot by watching. That's exactly what we do because around this great land of ours, and keep it around the planet or in the United States from seed to Oily Sea, we help people do things that we observe. And sometimes these activities, well there's somewhat innocuous and kind of stupid and silly, gets you a little trouble. Other times are far more serious other or instances where they can even land you in jail. But anyway you slice it, anyway you describe it, anyway you characterize it, these activities, these behaviors, they always leave us scratching our head and asking ourselves, what kind of brand new fool are you? So? What kind of brand new fool are you? Well, this week we take you to Boston, the great Commonwealth of Massachusetts. You know, Tom Brady may have had a few fans or two, and some were willing to pay big bucks to go see him play, even if they didn't have the money. You see, one particular fan, Miss Stephanie, Well, she found out it was gonna be about six thousand a ticket to watch him play, and she certainly was able to come up with the money. Unfortunately, the money wasn't hers. Courding An, NBC Boston. A federal judge on Thursday sentenced Miss Stephanie to thirty months behind bars in three years and supervised released because she did a little wire fraud and she'd been accused of stealing almost five hundred thousand dollars from her employer, some of which they used to fund her twenty twenty one trip Kujillet Stadium where Tom Brady had returned. He was no longer a member of the Patriots. He was actually a quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Now, this money that Miss Stephanie lifted over her period of six years was money she stole from a company she worked for. She was able to pull it off. She was an office administrator. She had access to credit cards, bank accounts, wrote bad checks, and all kinds of stuff. But now it wasn't just Brady. She blew this cash on like a hot tub and plane tickets, fifty thousand dollars worth of products or man Amazon, miscellaneous herbs and spices. Oh yeah, and she also paid fifty six hundred dollars for tickets to that Brady Patriots matchup. According to the US attorney, she cashed a lot of unauthorized checks, logged him in his payments to legitimate vendors, to legit vendors, actually in her employer's books. She was also accused of altering other company records, et cetera, et cetera. Here's the kicker. Just six months before she started ripping off this employer, Miss Stephanie had just finished serving on a prison sentence for close to swiping ten grand from another employer second time around? Why not? So Miss Stephanie will spend the next two and a half years in federal prison for her bad behavior and the financial and emotional turmoil she caused her behavior or caused her employer. And it was so serious the FBI, the Boston Division of the FBI, even get involved. So hey, you may like Tom Brady, you may want to see me, you may be willing to fork out the money, but if it ain't your money, you're going to spend thirty months in prison. Ms Stephanie from Boston. What kind of brand new fool of you? All right, mister Shay always look forward to yours.
Well, this one is definitely a doozy. This is going to go to Conroe where Conroe ISD. Parents are unraged with student punished with restroom brand leading to an accident in the classroom. So when I read this headline, I was like, oh boy, how is this even a thing? They have to be at least like, what in fifth grade or something, because you wouldn't do that to someone very young. Supposedly the kids were in first grade. But let me let me give you some background here before we do anything. Else, so conrou isd parents are expressing outrage after a message was sent home stating their children had lost the privilege to use the restroom because of a lost best restroom pass. The incident occurred at Bartlett At Elementary School in Conroe and has sparks concerns over the well being and treatment of students, especially young students. The controversy began when a first grade teacher, Ashley Berera, allegedly took away the restroom pass from her class around three pm on a school day, leaving the students unable to use the bathroom for hours. According to Amber Johnson, a concerned parent, her daughter was in the classroom at the time. It witnessed many classmates struggling to hold it in, with some eventually soiling themselves.
Oh boy, I know that. I mean.
First off, when you're in when you're a first grader, you lose, you lose things, you know what I mean. So it's like the fact that a teacher would do that, first off, is crazy to me, But the fact that a teacher did that to first graders is even more wild to me. But anyway, let me get back to the story. Amber Johnson's daughter so basically came out to say that some people were crying to death to go to the bathroom. And then parents, including Amber John's and were further alarmed when they received a message from the teacher. They literally got a message from the teacher saying that the bathroom is no longer available to the students because of the incident of losing the bathroom pass. And then in the wake of the incident, Johnson learned from other parents that six students ended up soiling themselves during the entire ordeal. Initially they thought it was two, but no, after an investigation, they found that six different students soiled themselves in that single one day.
What's going on with that teacher?
Absolutely nothing as of right now, they're just investigating to see what's going on. And the actual school district came out with a quick little response stating, this afternoon, we were made aware of a situation in a first grade classroom in which western privileges were revoked. I have spoken with the parents of both students who which turned into six who have suddenly had accidents. The class will have a current staff member to serve as a substitute teacher for the remainder of the week while complete our investigation into the matter, this incident is not indicative of the safe and loving environment we foster at barlat Elementary. I thank you for your support and continued partnership. Nothing was basically done after saying that teacher kept their job, so as of right now, the investigation continues. Many parents are hoping that the school district takes swift and appropriate action, but as of right now, absolutely nothing has been done. So this leads me to say, teacher, whose name is Ashley Barrera, what kind of fool are you? They're first graders, man, they're gonna looks. I was about to ask you that they're first graders, like they're good. It's crazy, like like I when I was expecting them to be in fifth grade. Oh maybe they're like they're trying to figure it out. They're teaching them like like valuable lessons in life. But when you're in first grade, you can't even retain what happened earlier that day, So it's like, what is this person doing? Like it was just a crazy I mean, I have a first grade cousin and he doesn't even know what we watched thirty minutes ago, So it's like a bathroom pass is giving them that much responsibility, and to just take it away and give them that much of an insane like take it away bathroom like privileges is crazy to me, which is like a human right. Almost I thought it was a crazy story. I was really upset to read it, honestly, but it was almost like hilarious that this teacher thought that that was the right thing to do. Watch out for those teachers, man, they all made seem they're great. But who knows.
We suck again, by the way, not for nothing. We all know. My mind doesn't always operate normally. So I think at one point during your narrative there, Shay, you implied that there were as many as five students that's actually six that had formulated a load in the shorts. If you get my grip, What the hell must that room smell like? That's what I probably it's actually Brera like got plug nostrils or something.
Is she like?
That's good? That's like sado masochism.
Now it's it's seriously, But I mean, if you've been into a first grade classroom, Bernie, they usually smell like that.
Man, three three toughest years of my life, all right, good, good research, Shay, excellent, excellent, And uh, I guess you. I don't know where Conra is. It's not Florida, right, I.
Don't think it's I did some research, but there's so many different conros out there.
I saw Texas, so I'm assuming.
It's in Texas. Here's a Conrod Texas.
Yeah, the Texas was like the biggest one, so I was assuming it's just Texas.
But in the art, imagine a nice ninety four degree day with eighty percent humidity and no air conditioned in the classroom. Oh, six six six kids, you know, formulating a little uh, you know what I mean, a little soup, trying to the teacher won't let them go drop the kids off at the pool, so they just do it right at the right at their desk. Yeah, well, nicely done. That will conclude another good job, good stuff, mark, nicely done in that, of course, that concludes another rousing edition of what kind of brand new fool of You, which now allows us guys to segue into our second favorite bit that we lovingly refer to as what my name? And here we go? All right, I, as an NFL starting quarterback, have thrown more pick sixes in history than any other NFL quarterback. Mark Ramsey, what my name? He is a current quarterback? Is a current quarterback?
Is it party?
Not brock party, not back party? But he plays in the same state. I've thrown more pick sixes than any other NFL quarterback in history. Shave Ogangard, what my name?
You brought him up earlier in the show. Matthew Stafford nicely done. Doesn't take his throne. But Matt Stafford, what happens? Well, not to be outdone. Actually he is outdone. I've thrown this second.
Most pick sixes in NFL history. Mark Ramsey, what my name? And he at one time played football. He's still well, he's still a quarterback in the NFL. But he played football in the state of California. It was his home team. He played football in California, the NFL, one of the NFL franchises was his was his team for many years. Uh, Montana, not your Montana, but you're not far off in terms of proximity to the city. Second most pick sixes in quarterback history.
He said, he plays right now, and he played right now.
He plays right now, but not in California. Shae Bogangar, what my name is it golf, not your golf.
So so let me think the Chargers went to and then.
He played his college football at Fresno State.
Fresno State, yep.
He's also got a brother that played quarterback in the NFL. Either one of you guys can plug.
Oh, oh my god, Derek Carr, you got it, Derek Carr, I should have known that when you said Fresnow yep.
Oh well, hell, while we're on the subject, let's fast forward to the twenty twenty four NFL season. And during the twenty twenty four NFL season, Off throwing more fourth quarter interceptions this season than any quarterback in the NFL. Mark Ramsey what my name? I've mentioned him a couple times in the show Tonight.
Is It mister Winston and he had crab lads with crab legs.
Nice touch on the krab legs. It's not jamis this one's Well, here's a clue. He threw a bunch of picks last week. So Off throwing more fourth quarter interceptions this season than any of their quarterback in the National Football League. Seam Ogengard what my name?
He did it last week?
He threw a bunch last week. Yeah, not they were in all those fourth quarter interceptions last week. Josh Allen, not Josh Allen. Let's say you have this, Okay, let's say you have an uncle who has a child. That relationship is known.
As a cousin.
Sam Kirk cousin really more. Yes, he's throwing more interceptions in the fourth quarter this season than anybody else.
Oh thirteen interceptions. Wow, poor guy.
All Right, moving on, I'm the only quarterback in NFL history that actually completed five passes to six different receivers in the same game. Mark Ramsey, what my name? He plays in a city I'm very familiar with, currently plays, currently plays I yess.
Is it?
Golf?
Very good? Jared Goff very good. Yeah, and he did, believe it or not, he did it just this last Thursday. Now, this one, I know Shane Morgan Yard is gonna get. Oh god, I'm the first. I love this. I'm the first Big twelve player in college football in history to accumulate fifteen hundred rushing yards. Boy and five.
Season go I've got a boy. He's so good.
I love that guy. The butcher. Now let me take a minute. Let's give some freaking props to your Arizona series Sun Devil.
Why they're for real, man, I've been saying it.
I mean they've won six in a row. They I love their quarterback. He transferred from Michigan State.
Right, yeah, he so, yeah, it was.
It was kind of a crazy story with him and all that he was the coach left there and then he was.
Like, hey, like I'm excited to come and all I know.
The whole story there was listen uh I reported and too many knuckleheads don't know what they're talking about now. It was never going to come to Fruition, apparently, but urban Meyer visited East Lansing. He toured the campus. He spent a fair amount of time. At the end of the day, they didn't put the deal together. But it wasn't a zero. He would have stayed if Erban Meyer had come and he didn't like the Guy's a nice guy, Jonathan C. Smith. But he's yeah, so this guy, I'm out of here. He's no Kenny Dillingham though, No, okay, thirty four years old Kenny Dillingham. Oh he's so good.
We'll have him for another ten years.
I love this man, dude. I love this team.
It's I love this team too. Bernie it's it's genuinely it makes nice so happy.
Yes, yes, I mean did they're they're we needed. First of all, they're gonna get a buye.
Yes, I think they'll be four. I think they'll be four.
Uh, well, they're gonna be four for one reason. Boise State was already five slots ahead of them last week, and then they beat unov by fourteen in their championship games. So they're not going to fall, right, you can't plus their twelve and one yearsona State's eleven and two. I agree, they're they're comparable, you know, they're they're comparable teams. So we'll see who they get, who they match up with, and you know all that kind of stuff. But look, I gotta tell you, man, maybe not Oregon, but I don't there's no one else in this tournament. I don't think they couldn't beat.
I think we can easily beat Texas. I don't think Texas is an issue.
I beat Texas hasn't beaten the top twenty five team.
That's I'm what I'm saying. We've beaten more top twenty five teams or Power four teams honestly than them. And then we've also beat Okay, everyone's saying that Boise lost to Oregon, like that's that's the biggest thing.
You know, Well, they didn't. If you watched the game, Ashton Jant ran for three scorers one hundred and ninety five yards. They competed.
Yeah, they competed, But that doesn't mean that's the only argument that they lost to Oregon. So I'm like sitting here like, oh, you guys lost to Oregon, that's your argument. I'm just like, I think Arizona could go very far. I've been saying this for a long time, and I've doubted them in the beginning of the year, but I will not doubt them anymore. And one last thing on cam scat about go ahead, this guy would be a Heisman winner if Travis Hunter and Ashton gent were in a thing. I'm seriously so upset that he had to blow up this year when the Heisman race is so insanely difficult because of the talent that we have seen this year, especially with a two way player like Travis Hunter, and then Ashton Genty was just an unheard of running back. I still think Cam is going to translate to the NFL a little bit better than Genty. Just because I literally I love that fullback type guy, like the guy that just goes runs forward. I don't know what it does, but the NFL isn't really seeing it anymore. So I really hope he does a good job. But we'll see. We'll see what happens. But if it was any other year, Cam would be a Heisman winner. Very upseting what I love about.
To Okay, first of all, he had two scholarship offers coming out of high school Sacramento State and William and Mary are you kidding me?
So?
And then and then you gotta love Arizona State. They were one hundred to one to win the conference at the beginning of the year. That's what the Saints were to win the Super Bowl. And so you know, you got to factor these things in, right, and and and look at them now. I mean they were picked to finish last by the coaches, right, So I mean, my god, what an amazing story. By the way, I had it right last year. And this is gonna be my projections that you're gonna see Arizona State get a bye and I think they'll play the winner of I think SMU will be the twelve seed and it will be the five seed get the winner of SMU Penn State at home. I agree, Nick could beat either one of them.
I think we will be either one of the state.
Yeah, so, and then you would advance. They don't recede, Oregon will be lying there and wait, they'll play the win or a Tennessee Ohio State. And if Oregon were to get knocked off by either of those, Arizona State, would you know, Let's just take it one at a time. So this has been fantastic, all right, man, gotta love it. Love cam Scattabo. All right, I'm the Okay, So here's the situation. You got the You got that one right. Camp Scattabo was the first Big twelve player in history fifteen hundred rushing yards five hundred receiving yards in the same season. However, I'm the last college football running back to get fifteen hundred rushing yards and five hundred receiving yards in the same season. Mark Ramsey what my name? I have mentioned him earlier in the show, and he's out the rest of the year with a PCL injury in his knee.
H Bernie, I'm going to phone a friend named Shaye.
All Right, the judges will allow it, it's gonna be CMC.
CMC, Christian McCaffrey.
Right, that's another guy that had basically like genty.
Who did it back in twenty fifteen at Stanford.
Yeah, he should have won the highest but just didn't you know what I mean, Like he did so good. But also that was the same year I think that what's his name when this Heisman.
Twenty fifteen, Yeah, quarterback, Oh, Derek Hendrick winning twenty five kind Obama, Yeah, out of Bama. You're right, they're similar. You you bring up a good point there, They're they're similar because really, Christian mccaffee came on strong at the end. So you got to remember Arizona State when six games and started winning all these games. That's what really put put him on the map. And then you started to see the highlight film of this guy and you're like, oh, my goodness, gracious, this dude is the real deal man.
Seriously, CMC was just yeah, you just didn't see him as much.
Well, I'm I'm scoutables too. I think he's gonna play. He's gonna have a good NFL career, I hope. So there's too many things he can do. Okay, this he can block. He was like, Okay, we'll get back to him later. We signed on Friday night, November December twentieth, which is in two weeks. We will we kind of know who as us next to all will be. Let's baseball call in that night. We'll talk about it, beautiful, or we'll talk about Saturday too, and you can also call in Friday minnt All Right, baseball. I'm the only major league player in history to hit two Grand slams in one inning. Mark Ramsey, what my name? Here's the clue. I got a son who's currently playing for the Padres.
Uh A Sun playing for the Padres play hit two home runs.
Two Grand slams same inning. Only Major League baseball player to do it.
Oh Tatis.
Yeah, we'll give it to you. Fernando Tatis.
In one game.
Yeah, one inning, in one inning.
Yeah.
I think he was a Boston six.
Oh my, I can't remember who was playing for. I have to look at that. I remember what happened.
Okay, nineteen ninety nine, Yeah, that's.
What it was. Yeah, Okay, guys, let's do a hockey one. But you guys could get this, Okay, you guys could get this in the history of the NHL. I've had more fights than anybody, a total of three and thirty three fights. Now, this guy's long retired. It's got a very distinctive name, and his first name is It's something you do with your shoes. You blank your shoes. You you don't have to slip on, so you have to what do you do to your shoes? Who is it?
Just yell it out.
Yeah, I'll be giving you a clue to the guy's name.
You tie your shoes, tie your shoes.
Well, you got that part right. Now we need to get the name of the hockey player.
Okay, who Tie?
Who had three hundred and thirty three fights, more than any other Tie. He's also got a son, is No, that's a good one. I don't think. I don't think he ever got in fights. Luke rovertid Tie is his first name, and he's got a son playing in the National Hockey League now he just likes to get in fights too. I can't think of a good clue to give you to the last no matter what, I just don't think I know this one.
I don't think you want to give it.
You give it a shot, Mark Tie.
All I have was Luke Robotie.
Good enough, that's a fair guess. It's actually Tied Domey. You guys, remember Tied. I don't go google it, man, Okay, badass, badass, all right, guys, Really good job, brand new fool with my name having a lot of fun. Uh and maybe not as much fun as those first graders and uh.
Oh my god, yeah those first grade I can't.
I can't get my mind around that.
Man, it's insane.
I can't keep my mind around that. That. That's that. That one's going to stick with me.
By the way, Tied Domie is the Maple Leafs all time leader in penalty month and it's as well and he's not a shock no penalty minutes in NHL history, which is funny.
The number one Google YouTube some of his fights. Man, he's fists looked like a couple of pistons going back and forth.
And his son's missing some teeth too.
Yeah, yeah, absolutely yeah. Apple. That doesn't fall from does it.
Go?
Sun Devil Somewhere? Frank Kusch must be smiling.
I'm calling you.

Chris has some major updates, including crowning a new champion. It's time Chris Popfet's World of Soccer.
The Greatest schools, the thrilling finishes, the international drum.
I ain't.
It's all here in this report from the World of Soccer.
Six MLS cups. That's how many La Galaxy has. The champions are back. Yes, it has been a while since La Galaxy has reached the rooftops of Major League Soccer. It's been a long time since David Becka wore the Galaxy jersey, or so did slats on Ibrakimovich or Luis Hernandez or even the Great landon Donovan himself. And in that time they have had to seed and share Los Angeles with LAFC, the upstarts who have garnered a lot of attention in their own MLS Cups. But Galaxy is back on top and they have claimed their sixth MLS Cup with a two to one win over the New York Red Bulls. The story of the Red Bulls was one of a lot of resiliency. No one as low seated as seventh had ever made the MLS Cup final before, but the dream for New York was really not to be. They got one goal in this game in the twenty eighth minute, but it was the La Galaxy two goals in the first fifteen minutes that dictated everything. A fast start to the game that would end up holding until the final minutes as the game winning goal went to day On Yovelek. We talked about on the previous night's World of soccer as their leading goal scorer for the regular season and someone who just stepped up when Galaxy really needed them the most, slammed that home and Galaxy is taking home the trophy. It's a bit of respect the club has desired and for a club that was up until the final days the RDA season leading the Western Conference, it is pride restored.
They may not be lifting the supporter shield.
That may go to Interer Miami, but in North America, in our world of sports, doing a playoff tournament, knockout tournament and winning a cup at the end of it, that's really the real championship for an American sport, and Galaxy adds a sixth star to their badge. Again, no one else in MLS is close to what they have done, and while it's been over ten years since their last MLS Cup, it's a reminder that they're still around and they are still.
The class to really beat.
They've gained back some respect in all of this by lifting this trophy, and with a squad of some real stars, to say the least, behind Marco Royce who was able to suit up for this match. Maya Yoshida, their captain, who came over the great Japanese player Joelex, which we mentioned.
It's a real coup for Galaxy.
It's it's a real moment for them, to say the least. It was in totality the right ending to a very chaotic MLS Cup playoffs that' saw Inter Miami knocked out in the first round, that saw La Galaxy fall to the Seattle Sounders, that saw the defending champions get the Columbus Crew get knocked out in the first round by New York Red Bulls. That cleared the board and set the pieces for a new winner, a new club, and in this case, the new club happens to also be the old club. There was another bit of MLS news we should talk about, and that was the awarding of the MVP, and there was a little bit of there was a few eyes that were raised when it was Leonel Messi who took her on the MVP. And you might be thinking to yourself, it's Leonel Messi, he clearly deserves the MVP. But a lot of that conversation comes from the fact that really only playing in fifty five percent of Inter Miami's games is a precipitously low number to really consider. For anyone who is a MVP in any sport. If I told you that a player in the NBA only played about half the games, you'd say, no way they could be MVP. And if I told you a quarterback only played in half the games of the National Football League, no way they could be MVP.
But that's just kind of what the impact of Messi is.
I feel like there's good cases on where he deserves it, and I also deeply respect the case that he just did not play enough to really go for the award. But let me go down this is that without Lionel Messi, this thirty six goal contributions twenty goals sixteen assists, the most of any player in MLS this season, the second closest with probably Luciano Acosta for FC Cincinnati. But it really, it really must be stressed that I do not believe Inter Miami is the one who's lifting the supporter shield or doing all of these amazing things they did in the regular season without Lionel Messi playing these games. And yes, maybe those numbers could be a lot bigger if he had played more of than we're also talking about a man who's on the tail end of things and Ultimately, at the end of the day, we have to say it. This has been about Lionel Messi coming to MLS. Lionel MLSI, if you will, So it makes sense that the league would work very hard to make sure that he gets the trophy at the end of this and he's been the poster child for this league.
Maybe he is not the most valuable.
Player as far as on field contributions before this league, raising the eyebrows of everyone around there, trying to make it much more of a home name to be recognized in the world of soccer.
Yeah, I could understand that.
For him, he's still doing amazing things out here, even as his rival Christiano Ronaldo does the same thing in Saudi Arabia. Well, with MLS out of the way now we can turn our attention back to Europe, who will continue through the winter and into the spring. And we have some interesting developments that happened on Saturday in that this seems to really be the moments where Manchester City is starting to slide. So we had heavy rain across parts of Britain. Liverpool and Everton's Merseyside derby was postponed. We'll see what happens there. Do I expect Liverpool to pick up points if they ever remake this match. But Manchester City, with a two two draw against Crystal Palace, has seen themselves in a very bad spot where they have now lost for and drew one in their last six games. It is put them in a point where we don't usually see this from City. It has lost their keen start to the season and has now dropped them to fourth behind Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal and with wins With a win by Nottingham Forest over Manchester United and a win by Aston Villa over Southampton, Manchester City is dangerously close to falling out of the Champions League qualification. Their manager Pep Guardiola talked about it and said straight up that we can't even we cannot talk about the title race at all. Forget about the Premier League title. We've lost four games in a row and a draw, he said quote. We'll try to recover players we'll see in the last month, but it is a season to suffer. We remind everyone too that Manchester City is suffering all of this well also with over a hundred financial violations hanging over their head being deliberated by a tribunal right now, which could see those points shaved off even further. It's a place we're not used to seeing City as someone who is deep in the chase and not one of the chase. Yes, there's been points where they've been close and chasing Arsenal, but not to this degree where there's quite a few points to make up on Liverpool. A Liverpool team that looks absolutely dominant. As again, we're about four games away from the halfway point of the season. I don't and with the way that Manchester City is playing and with the way they've been hurt, I don't really see their path to getting back to this. This will be fascinating because now we're talking about a wide open Premier League that's going to do it for us. Bernie, congratulations once again to La Galaxy for lifting the MLS Cup. Congratulations a Linel Messi for the MLS MVP. And we'll see you next time on the World of Soccer.
Nail mess you there go that man again? All right, the World of Soccer coming up? All right? I know the good folks of Tuscaloosa by now must have rope burns from the rosary, praying hoping, who's it gonna be? Alabama or SMU. Coming up, I'll tell you who I think the Committee is going to pick. I'm Bernie Frattle or come to Lion from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Tarat dot Com Studios. Don't go away, you're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right, we're wrapping it up on the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio Comedy live from the tarat dot Com studios here in Las Vegas before I go in for other one of them. Thanks my broadcast team back in Los Angeles. They have been with me since eleven pm Pacific time on Saturday Night. Mark Ramsey, my technical producer, Shay Morgannguard, my executive producer. Good job tonight, guys, turning around the Donalds, keeping us glued together. Good job on brand new fool What my name? Always? Plenty of fun for the whole family.
All right, for.
About six hours and eleven minutes away from at least the show beginning in which the Committee will reveal to a greatful nation who's it going to be? SMU or Alabama? And for those of you who selectively listen, let me say this. I'm going to tell you who I think the committee will pick. All right, That's what I'm going to try to do here, And let me set up a few things. First of all, would would Alabama be SMU, Yes, yes, I believe they would. I believe they would would SMU this past season based on what I saw have been in Georgia, LSU, or South Carolina or Missouri. No, I don't believe they would have, just my humble opinion. But guess who did Alabama? Alabama beat Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, and Missouri. And oh not for nothing, SMU lost to Clemson Saturday night, who also lost to Georgia and South Carolina who Alabama beat. The accumulative record of the opponents Alabama played this year were ninety two and fifty two, and the cumulative record for SMU eighty three and seventy five. These are just facts. They'll get all up in your fields here, all right. There are objective truths, there are personal feelings. We're dealing with objective truths here. I get it. Obama had three losses, tied, didn't play in their conference title game, but they played a very tough SEC schedule, and I know people want to hate and bash on the SEC while you're at it, just remember to remind yourself that currently on NFL rosters, the SEC features four hundred and thirty nine players. Of the last twenty national championships, the SEC conference has won fourteen of them. Week in week out. You're not gonna see a better gauntlet, the athleticism on the defensive lines, the physicality week in week out. It's they cannibalize each other. Okay, that's just a fact. Am I an SEC walk Hell No, I'm telling you these are objective truths, not personal feelings. I don't give a horses p duit, all right. And I know you're gonna crap on Alabama because they lost to Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt's a good team. You're gonna crap on them because they lost to Oklahoma. It's a bad loss. I don't want to hear anything about bad losses. Bad losses good. If they're bad losses, that means you have to be good losses. And there's no such thing as a good loss. It's like a good kidney stone, all right. So at the end of the day, who the hell does the committee pick? You make a case for SMU. Their best wins were over Louisville and Pitt. I suppose the only loss prior to Saturday, it came by three points on the road at BUYU, a quality team, but up until just last week was in the mix for the Big twelve title game. And then their second loss was to Clemson, who lost to Georgia and South Carolina of the SEC. But the SMU did make it to their conference championship game. And that's therein starts to offer the clue the verdict. Okay, you never really know one hundred percent what the committee's going to do. I don't really care what ward Manuel says. And I would say that if they're going to honor the integrity of conference championship games, if you're in them, whether you lose them or not, then it's clear to me that I'm gonna guess about within about six hours and thirty minutes from now, the Committee will extend an imitation. Again proticting the Committee will extend the imitation to SMU. I believe they will be the team that finds their way in UH. And it's you know, it's just the way it's going to be, based on what I think I know, based on if you put all the data in a blender and mix it up, and again I'll reiterate. Would would SMU beat Alabama?
No?
I don't think they would. Would the four teams at Alabama beat this year of NOE Georgia Georgia will bet Texas twice, LSU, South Carolina, Missouri? Would would SMU have beatn those teams?
No?
I don't believe.
So.
If SMU would have played Alabama schedule, would they have been eleven to one? No, eleven and two? I don't think so. There's drenth to schedule. Not great, But listen, what does it matter? Okay, this is a made for TV event We're all going to watch regardless, and I just think that the committee is going to follow along party lines, and because they were college conference championship games played Saturday, they want to maintain the integrity of that and the dignity to that. And SMU almost took i'm s into overtime.
So there you have it.
It's good. Do it for the Bernie Fratto Show. We'll see it soon. In the meantime, keep it locked up next to great Andy Furman, Fox Sports Radio.
