Romans 8 does not leave room for fuzzy categories, and today we sit with one of its most searching tests: what your mind is set on. Dr. Timothy Mann opens Romans 8:5-13 to show why Scripture speaks in absolutes about flesh versus Spirit, death versus life, and what it means to have peace with God through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We talk about the Holy Spirit’s central role in the Christian life and why it matters that the Spirit is not an impersonal influence but a Person who dwells in believers. You’ll hear how Paul’s language points to basic spiritual nature, not just outward habits, and why “the mind set on the flesh is death” describes a present spiritual condition. On the other side, “the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace” becomes a clear marker of new birth, assurance of salvation, and real Christian sanctification.

We also bring these truths into our cultural moment. When society shrugs at Scripture, Romans 8 explains why that reaction is expected and why the church should stop chasing a false sense of moral majority. The call is to stand as a prophetic minority, anchored in biblical teaching, while examining our own hearts for holy affections and a real battle against sin.
