Hosts Shelly and June Volk discuss the spiritual significance of the fall feasts of the Lord, focusing on how the Day of Atonement foreshadowed Jesus' ultimate sacrifice. Through a deep dive into Psalm 51, Exodus 34, and Hebrews 9, they explore the distinction between external animal sacrifices under the law and the internal transformation, cleansing, and freedom from sin brought through the Messiah on the cross.

Key Takeaways

Prophetic Appointed Times: The fall feasts of the Lord serve as prophetic previews laid out in the Hebrew Scriptures that find their ultimate fulfillment in Jesus.

Shadow vs. Substance: The Old Testament sacrifices—such as the two goats on the Day of Atonement—offered temporary, external cleansing, whereas Jesus’ sacrifice provides complete, internal cleansing of the conscience.

The Heart of Repentance: King David’s prayer in Psalm 51 provides a model for addressing sin, iniquity, and transgression, pointing toward the necessity of being born again.

Freedom from Fallen Nature: Iniquity reflects the inherited nature of fallen humanity; true transformation comes through accepting the Messiah's atonement.
