Like a book club for music nerds, Dan Gordon and Maia Bilyk take a deep dive through a different album each week. Between the nostalgic and brand new, broken down by the artist themselves.

Recorded and broadcasted on the stolen land of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge their ongoing struggle. Sovereignty was never ceded.

Best Of 2021: Marcus Whale’s The Hunger with Marcus Whale

To say FKA twigs in her near-decade career has seen and experienced it all is an understatement. Since first arriving in 2012 as a hot artist to watch, which each release twigs has extended her alt-baroque-electronic world with each new release, culminating in the grandiose opus Magdalene. In the time since, between some very public and very private battles and a pandemic, twigs took some time to recuperate and nearly stepped away from music altogether. Little did she know, in taking "a break", she'd piece herself and her craft back together again, empowered by the everyday intimacy of life itself. Caprisongs is twigs' jubilant and carefree rebirth, where she steadies for mainstream domination. In July 2018, blackgaze (black metal/shoegaze) juggernauts Deafheaven released one of the most unique records in recent memory. Stomach churning vocals balanced across delicate, graceful instrumentation and tropes of classic rock. This was not blast beat, evil black metal; this was pretty and hopeful. Ordinary Corrupt Human Love is a masterwork of blended styes which despite their completely divergent nature, sound beautiful rather than devastating. TRACKS PLAYED: ‘You Without End’ ‘Honeycomb’ ‘Canary Yellow’ ‘Near’ ‘Glint’ ‘Night People’ ‘Worthless Animal’.
