A man accused of crashing his vehicle into and killing a pedestrian in West Palm Beach on Friday night told police he fled the scene because he was scared and had never been involved in a major crash before, according to an arrest report. Juan Castanon-Perez of West Palm Beach remained in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail on Wednesday in lieu of a $50,000 bond. He is accused of hitting and killing David Dering. Castanon-Perez faces one count of leaving the scene of a crash without rendering aid. He turned himself in Saturday morning.
