A paralegal at a Palm Beach Gardens law firm is facing charges after more than $128,000 went missing from a 90-year-old man’s account. Lou-ANNA SHY-ree said she deposited the money in her own account to shield it from other people who were trying to take it from the man, who suffers from memory issues. Authorities recovered all but about $26,000 of the money, and SHY-ree insists the man gifted her $14,000. The lawyer for whose firm SHY-ree worked said he was unaware of the transfer and would not have allowed it to happen. The money was supposed to go into an investment account for the man, who suffers from memory issues. Shirey faces charges of money laundering and exploitation of an elderly person.
