One person was injured and airlifted to a hospital Friday after an explosion at Eglin (egg-lin) Air Force Base in the Panhandle. According to the Navy Times, an independent publication that covers the U.S. Navy, the individual, identified as a contractor, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The area where the explosion occurred is used by the Naval School Explosive Ordinance Disposal, but the explosion was not part of any training or planned exercise, Northwest Florida Daily News reports. An investigation into the incident is underway.
