One Florida county is redistricting for the first time in a decade. This is due to significant population growth, the Herald Tribune reports. The redistricting will likely lead to changes in county commissioner districts. County officials say the effort is mandatory, as Florida requires counties re-draw the borders of their districts after every decennial census to keep the number of residents living within each about even. In Manatee, districts one and five have grown at a fast rate during the last 10 years. Redistricting efforts aim to even out the populations in response to that growth.
