According to a civil rights complaint filed with U.S. Department of Homeland Security Two national organizations said nearly 100 detainees at a Florida facility are on a hunger strike. The reported hunger strike is taking place at the Glades County Detention Center, where ICE-held detainees are demanding medical care, access to phones and a cease in deportations. The complaint was issued by Freedom for Immigrants and the American Friends Service Committee. A person affiliated with the Southern Poverty Law Center in Miami, which undersigned the complaint said QUOTE "Some of the inmates have spent time in federal prison. "They said the conditions at the prison were better than at Glades." An ICE spokesperson said the agency does not currently have any detainees on a hunger strike at the correctional center.
