In Northeast Florida, news of local attorney Jim Evans going missing during a dive off the coast of Daytona Beach over the weekend has shocked the legal community and those who knew him. The U.S. Coast Guard in Jacksonville said via social media that they started searching for Evans after getting reports that he went missing during a dive 30 miles off the coast east of Daytona Beach on Friday. On Sunday, the Coast Guard said Evans had not been found despite an all-out three-day search. “As of 10 a.m. Sunday (search teams) conducted 62 hours in search patterns and covered more than 2,350 square nautical miles,” the Coast Guard said in a Twitter update.
