Recent polling suggests Governor Ron DeSantis' COVID-19 response is not broadly popular, and could be a liability as he seeks re-election in 2022. The latest in a series of bad polls for DeSantis was released early this month by Morning Consult. It shows a big dip in the governor’s approval rating over the last two months, a time when COVID-19 cases skyrocketed in Florida to record levels and the state has been a national epicenter for the pandemic. A Morning Consult poll taken in late June found DeSantis at 54-percent approval, but he is down to 48-percent approval in the latest poll of over 4,174 registered voters, conducted from August 21st though 30th. DeSantis’ approval rating fell by three percentage points among Democrats, four percentage points among Republicans and 10 percentage points among independents.
