Known by his tens of thousands of YouTube fans as "SoloYaker" and "The Armed Fisherman," a 41-year-old Florida man was arrested in late March for violating Florida's wiretapping statute, a third degree felony. The case stems from a June 2020 incident when he was served a trespass warning while open carrying two guns while fishing. It is legal to open carry firearms in Florida while hunting or fishing. The man complied with the trespass and then successfully challenged it and had it removed. Wanting to be sure the trespass warning had been lifted, he recorded a phone call about it without consent. But last week, the State Attorney filed no information in the case. Technically a no information filing leaves open the possibility for prosecution in the future until the statute of limitations runs out.
