A noted civil rights attorney has been recognized by TIME magazine as one of the "one hundred most influential people in the world." Attorney Ben Crump, of Tallahassee, made the annual TIME 100 list after handling some of the country's most controversial and racially charged legal cases, including the killings of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown. Crump told the Tallahassee Democrat "I'm very humbled and grateful to be acknowledged,". "I think about [...] the people who are not present with us today, [...] we must continue to keep their legacy relevant in the present day." Crump recently represented the family of George Floyd, who was killed in May 2020 by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin (show-van) — a case that captured worldwide attention and sparked a racial reckoning across the country.
