Port of the Islands Hotel & Resort in the Everglades, which hasn't seen guests in ages, is headed toward demolition. The hotel, which is located along U.S. 41, which closed years ago, has been mired in litigation and debt. Now, as the responsibility of Collier County, commissioners will be asked to approve a contract for the destruction of the unsightly hotel for $388,444.
