Public health officials are warning against a mosquito-borne disease. Eleven people in Miami Dade County have come down with Dengue fever. Dengue fever can cause headaches, eye pain, muscle and joint pain, nausea and unusual bleeding. It’s carried by the same mosquito that transmits the Zika virus. Health officials are warning everyone to drain standing water to help prevent mosquitoes from breeding. People should also take precautions for themselves, including wearing long pants and shoes and socks while outdoors in mosquito-prone areas, and using a strong mosquito repellent.
