At 5 ½ months old, Ayla had already been rushed to hospital in an ambulance six times when she had stopped breathing and went blue in the face for reasons unbeknownst to her parents and doctors. Each time, she had been sent home by doctors claiming that there was nothing wrong. 

In 2021 while out shopping together, mother Lauren found Ayla stopped breathing. This led to doctors finding that Ayla had a condition where there was a hole above her windpipe that would cause her to stop breathing.
