Solidarity welcomes US Senate's approval of a two-year extension of AGOA

View descriptionShare

Solidarity has welcomed the US Senate's approval of a two-year extension of AGOA to December 2028, saying its recent Washington delegation helped secure support. The extension still needs House approval and the President's signature but no major obstacles are expected.
Solidarity's Head of Public Liaison, Jaco Kleynhans says the deal gives certainty to South African exporters and workers, but warned the White House could still revise the list of beneficiary countries. The organization is urging government to repair US-SA relations to protect South Africa's place in the trade agreement. We spoke to Solidarity's Head of Public Liaison, Jaco Kleynhans
