The South African Federation of Trade Unions, SAFTU has expressed alarm over a new settlement between the National Energy Regulator and Eskom. The agreement grants Eskom an extra R54 billion in revenue over the Sixth Multi-Year Price Determination period. SAFTU says, while the deal corrects technical errors, it places a heavy burden on workers and poor households already struggling with austerity, joblessness and soaring living costs.
