The Public Servants Association (PSA) is calling for urgent intervention by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development to address the escalating crisis in the South African judiciary. Lower Court Judges are protesting nationwide, citing systemic neglect of their conditions of service and remuneration. The PSA says the judges, who handle 95% of the country's judicial workload, have not had a meaningful salary review in over 17 years and are facing financial distress. The association is urging the minister to implement legislative and policy reforms to establish a unified judicial system and provide the judges with fair conditions of service.
