President Ramaphosa seeks Constitutional Court ruling on Copyright Amendment Bill

View descriptionShare

President Ramaphosa is seeking a Constitutional Court ruling on the constitutionality of the Copyright Amendment Bill. The move comes hot on the heels of Section 27's urgent application, filed on behalf of Blind SA, against President Ramaphosa for not signing the bill. Blind SA challenged the constitutionality of the Copyright Act two years ago, arguing it infringed on the rights of blind and visually impaired persons. The apex court ruled in their favour, declaring the Act unconstitutional and ordering Parliament to amend it by September this year. For more on this, Elvis Presslin spoke to Christo de Klerk, Vice President of Blind SA
