New figures have revealed a sharp rise in gun violence in Gauteng, with thousands of shooting incidents recorded in just under five months this year. The Democratic Alliance is calling for urgent intervention by the Gauteng Provincial Government and SAPS, warning that illegal firearms and low prosecution rates are driving communities into a daily cycle of violence. The DA says only a fraction of cases are resulting in arrests and prosecutions, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the criminal justice system.
