The death toll from the devastating mudslide in Nepal has risen to more than one-thousand according to the latest figures released by Nepal's police. Six South Africans remain missing. Deadly floods struck northern Nepal a week ago, causing massive damage to buildings, road infrastructure and power plants. The Nepalese government has declared the region a disaster crisis zone for at least three months to facilitate resource deployment, strengthen personnel management, and accelerate post-disaster recovery efforts.
