President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed veteran politician Roelf Meyer as South Africa's new ambassador to the United States. The move comes as Pretoria seeks to repair ties with Washington following a challenging period of strained relations. Meyer, 78, replaces Ebrahim Rasool in the role. Meyer played a key role in South Africa's democratic transition.
