Gauteng Traffic Police Chief Inspector Samuel Mashaba has been placed on precautionary suspension with immediate effect. The decision follows admissions he made at the Madlanga Commission that may breach the Public Service Code and departmental policy. Allegations include misuse of official powers, state resources and accepting compensation from a member of the public. Mashaba has been ordered to surrender firearms, phones and other state equipment and is barred from government premises while a formal disciplinary process unfolds.
