Arrest of police officers for alleged corruption sends shockwaves to the nation

A police Captain is appearing in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court today, facing allegations of defrauding the South African Police Service (SAPS) of millions of rand. The 53-year-old is accused of manipulating the finance system to withdraw cash meant for presidential protectors' expenses. In a separate case, a police Sergeant who recently testified before the Madlanga Commission is also due in court. We spoke to Lisa Schickerling, MP and DA Deputy Spokesperson on Police, for reaction to the surge in allegations of corruption against police officers and subsequent court appearances.
